About

Evidently there are some really picky people here on SE. Specifically, there are some who are not fans of uncial (or Majuscule) fonts. And others just simply wonder why I write with uncials in my questions and answers. Let me give a rationale:

First, minuscules weren't used until until centuries into the A.D. era. So, if we're speaking about Hellenic or Hellenistic (Koine) Greek usage, it's suitable to use the letters they used.

Second, the uncials preserve for us the ambiguity in the text as they are preserved in the original documents. Let's use some examples:

In these two examples we find the demonstrative pronoun being used, "this woman" (αὕτη). But it could just as easily be the intensive pronoun (αὐτή), "she herself." In the primary manuscripts that we have, the accents didn't exist. The editors of our NT editions have made the decision for you. But if we were to keep the uncial word there, ⲁⲩⲧⲏ, then we have all the options on the table for us to make use of. Or to put it differently, what is there in the manuscripts is faithfully handed down to us. (This Q/A also contains another useful example: https://hermeneutics.stackexchange.com/questions/20139/whose-faith-is-the-subject-of-hebrews-1111/85153#85153 )

Third, There are Greek Uncial fonts available (cf. https://www.greekfontsociety-gfs.gr/typefaces/majuscule). However none of them have, evidently, successfully made it into keyboards and widespread usage.

Fourth, Some of the great uncials (esp. Sinaiticus) actually preserve Coptic letters in their Greek text.

Finally, If people were to dig behind what I write in Q&A and see the code, they would find Coptic-encoded letters. But, (for other than a few letters) Coptic and Greek share the same alphabet. So, I make use of it because it's more convenient.

I hope that the preceding will clear up some of the questions you might have. For I make use of the uncial script with much forethought and deliberation.
