EMBRACING THE ENERGY TRANSITION
Over ons
With 1,300+ members the Energy Reinvented Community is designed to connect a wide range of stakeholders related to the energy industry. Its aim is to provide a platform for discussions, foster partnerships, spark ideas, generate innovation and enable cross sector and cross border activities, all related to society’s transition towards an accepted, reliable, clean and affordable energy system. In an open community our diverse international group of members (representing both the energy industry and adjacent industries) share ideas and opportunities to cross the bridges between the – now sometimes siloed - pillars of the energy system and driving connectedness with society at large. In an open community our diverse international group of members (representing both the energy industry and adjacent industries) share ideas and opportunities to cross the bridges between the – now sometimes siloed - pillars of the energy system and driving connectedness with society at large. The community was raised in 2013 by TNO, Siemens and Shell as the Oil & Gas Reinvented Community. In 2018 EBN joined the founding partners. While it originated in the oil and gas sector, the Community grew in the first lustrum beyond oil and gas, touching upon areas such as offshore energy, energy storage, CCUS, hydrogen, energy grid & utilities, geothermal energy and digitalization. To cover the next 5 years’ ambitions the name was changed into Energy Reinvented Community in 2019. In 2021 TenneT joined us as the fifth partner. And beginning of 2024 Deloitte joined us as the sixth partner. Membership is free and open to everyone who feels inspired by the platform objectives. The Energy Reinvented Community organizes three to four events annually, around an annual theme. The events offer plenary key note programs preceded by separate Focus Group programs.

Energy Transitions is a massive and complicated issue. It can seem that all necessary actions require large-scale resources and large-scale business or political power. However, collectively, we actually have considerable power and there is much influence we can bring through our actions as individuals. Humanising energy transitions means breaking it down to what we can achieve at the human level - empowering ourselves and our communities to affect real change. This is from this week's edition of The Dodo Club newsletter. If you'd like to read more on this and other related topics, you can sign up through the link in the comments.

At the second event of the Energy Reinvented Community, the theme was “matching energy supply and demand for industry”. TNO and Deloitte were delighted to jointly host the focus group “CCUS and Financing the Energy Transition”. Carbon circularity as a nascent business model is gaining momentum this year with many good ideas seeking an environment for testing and embarking on a funding and financing journey. During the first half of the session, we discussed different #CCU technology developments with presentations from the Field Lab of Industrial Electrification (FLIE), InnovationQuarter, and Skytree. During the second half of the session, we invited GAFT - Sustainable Aviation Fuel Technology, Pure Carbon Blue, Polestar Capital and Skytree, to speak about their financing journey in the carbon utilization space: - Understanding the availability of funding options; - Sharing (un)successful strategies to attract financing as well as the associated risks; - Analysing the various financing requirements between different investors; and - Potential solutions to improve the financing journey for start-ups. Through these insightful conversations, we learned: - The funding landscape is “scattered” and start-ups should focus on optimising a robust consortium of investors along their value chain/network; - From an investor perspective, it is important to “speak the same language” since financiers’ requirements vary depending on technology readiness level; - To perform a viability analysis that aligns your grants and incentives approach with your strategy to mitigate administrative burden; and - Regulators also have a part to play in helping CCU start-ups during their funding journey. I was delighted for the opportunity to collaborate with Brigitte Jacobs-van den Eijnden Jacobs (Business Development Manager at TNO), Tara Van Abkoude (Business Developer at TNO) and Hawi de Jager to bring this exciting focus group together and would like to thank Melle Sijbrandij (Business Developer at InnovationQuarter), Ot Messemaker (Strategic Development Manager at Skytree), Anneke Vromen RA (CFO at GAFT), Marc Goedkoop, PhD (CEO at Pure Carbon Blue), Daan van Kassel, CAIA (Fund Director at Polestar Capital), Corjan Visser (Director at Deloitte) for participating as well as Energy Reinvented Community for hosting the event.

"Time is the common enemy of the industry and energy sector".
💧⚡️President at The Royal Association of the Dutch Chemical Industry (VNCI) . It’s all about energy, hydrogen, industry and SDGs
⏰Time is the common enemy of the industry and energy sector . 🙏Create a common perspective. ⚡️More renewable energy needed. Thanks to TenneT TSO B.V. And Siemens Energy for the event MATCHING ENERGY SUPPLY AND DEMAND FOR INDUSTRY With a lot of inspiring speakers like Gert Jan Kramer from the Sustainable Industry Lab and Jurgen Hoekstra from BASF #energy_reinvented #energy_policy #energy_transition #energy_security #sustainable_industry #decarbonisation #hydrogen #CO2 #system_integration #CCUS #sustainable_finance #heat_transition VNCI

Yesterday’s ERC event focused on MATCHING ENERGY SUPPLY AND DEMAND FOR INDUSTRY. The ERC event offered valuable insights on existing and expected policies, gave practical examples. Here are some takeaways: 📌 In between energy supply and demand for industry is infrastructure. No transition without transmission. 📌 There is room for industry in North West Europe. But this means making political and societal choices. 📌Companies and network operators have different timelines for investment and do not always speak the same language. 📌The industrial cluster approach can help break through the chicken and egg dilemma about energy demand and network capacity. Cluster chairs can help in bringing parties together. And finally: 📌Collaboration is important but transforming the energy system and transforming industry requires cocreation by different players along the energy value chain. Many thanks to all attendees for their active participation and to all speakers, panelists, moderators and focus group leads for their contributions!
