Kerensa will showcase her animal-free research on infant brain development and healthy aging using the groundbreaking "Gut-brain axis on a chip" model, developed at the University of Twente and in the process of being implemented at NIZO. The โgut-brain axis on a chipโ promises not only to contribute to an animal-free future of health research, but also to become a valuable tool in the food industryโs toolbox for finding new foods and ingredients that impact brain health and to understand their mechanisms of action.
