Last Wednesday, the 5th edition of the Lagos Health Summit was held at the Muson Center, Onikan Lagos State. This edition of the Health Summit was hosted by HCA Consults and its theme was “Future of Wellness; Fostering Collaboration for a Healthier Populace” which featured 5 featured presentations, three panel sessions, a product demo and an exhibition. In his opening speech, Dr. Habeeb Moshood , the Executive Director of Lagos Health Summit, said "we must leverage the potential of collaboration to pave the way for a healthier future." This year's theme emphasizes the importance of collaboration and teamwork  in realizing the common goal of improving health outcomes.. The Design for Health by CcHUB Practice at Co-creation Hub (CcHUB) had the opportunity to be present at the 5th edition of the Lagos Health Summit, ably represented by The practice lead, Stephanie Okpere, who led a section where she shared her insights on “Driving Sustainable Last Mile Innovation: A Community Of Practice Approach”. Stephanie Okpere announced the launch of the Health Tech Connect Africa, a Pan-African community of practice  that aims to revolutionize healthcare delivery by fostering context- specific innovations through strategic collaboration among stakeholders, including startups, governments, and local communities. Building Sustainable Communities of Practice The presentation delved into the concept of Communities of Practice (CoPs) as a powerful strategy for ensuring sustainable impact within the healthcare sector. CoPs bring together diverse stakeholders – healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, and policymakers – to share knowledge, solve problems, and co-create solutions. This collaborative approach fosters long-term engagement and ensures solutions address real-world needs. Last Mile Innovation: Reaching the Underserved The discussion also highlighted the importance of "Last Mile Innovation" – extending healthcare solutions to underserved communities. This strategy emphasizes tailoring solutions to the specific contexts and needs of rural or remote areas. By fostering collaboration with local communities, the Health Tech Connect Africa ensures innovations are context-specific, culturally relevant and have a lasting impact. Looking Ahead: A Collaborative Future for Health Co-Creation Hub's commitment to fostering collaboration through the Health Tech Connect Africa aligns perfectly with Lagos Health related policies. By working together, we can create a healthier future for all Africans. The project would contribute towards improving the utilization and adoption of health tech solutions, and enhance rural healthcare access using cutting-edge technologies. Can’t believe my last LinkedIn post was TWO MONTHS ago. Where have I been you ask? Well there is a lot I have to tell you, but let’s save that for later. But anyway, this is me dropping a “proof of life” post after navigating an extremely busy roster of events. Oh yeah, and this picture was taken two days ago at the Lagos Health Summit where I was privileged to moderate a conversation about promoting wellness in the modern world. How have you been though? Let me know in the comments. I have indeed really missed my LinkedIn family. It’s good to be back. #TGIF #LinkedIn

Driving Business Growth > Partnerships, Product Marketing

"Leave the healthcare sector better than you found it." I was glad to deliver the closing address at the fifth edition of the Lagos Health Summit and leave the audience with that quote. While my intention was to motivate everyone, it's beyond me, it has been a key aspect of the summit since its inception in 2020. Joining the team last year was a big decision because I was new to healthcare but it was the right decision because, through the summit, we provide value to several organizations, connect key stakeholders across the public and private sectors, and facilitate transformative actions to advance the state of healthcare in our country. It has been fulfilling to work with Dr. Habeeb Moshood, Deborah Ojo, and the team to bring our plans to life. The summit was supported by Interswitch Group as the Headline sponsor and the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Health. Thank you to our sponsors, partners, and every participating organization for another successful edition of the Lagos Health Summit. I look forward to another exciting edition of the event next year.

At the recently concluded Lagos Health Summit 2024, I had the opportunity to present on the pressing issue of "Saving Lives by Saving our Doctors: Restoring Work-Life Balance in Nigeria's Healthcare System." My powerful presentation resonated deeply with the audience, as I shared the heartbreaking story of Nigerian doctors pushed to the brink by excessive workloads and unregulated hours. The summit was filled with other insightful panel discussions and presentations, including a fascinating dialogue on "Harnessing the Potentials of PPPs to Accelerate Growth in the Health Sector." The panelists, featuring the Permanent Secretary to Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Olusegun Ogboye , the MD of Ibile Holdings, Mr. Tobi Lawal Fcib ,the CEO of Alpine Group care, Lola Mariam Alli and the Associate Director of Deloitte Nigeria Chiazo Okadigbo and Special Adviser (Legal) to the Office of Public Private Partnerships Lagos State, Mrs. Bukola Odoe, provided valuable perspectives on leveraging public-private partnerships to drive progress in the healthcare sector. The Executive Director of the Lagos Health Summit Dr. Habeeb Moshood also delivered a captivating welcome address, setting the tone for a day filled with thought-provoking discussions. As Nigeria faces critical healthcare workforce shortages, I emphasized the urgent need to prioritize the wellbeing of medical providers. Addressing long-standing issues like inadequate resources, poor leadership, and high rates of brain drain is crucial to building a resilient, sustainable healthcare system that can truly serve the people. It's time to recognize the sacrifices of our healthcare heroes and take concrete steps to restore work-life balance. Nigeria must act now to regulate working hours, provide proper rest and recovery time, and create an environment where doctors can thrive. By investing in our medical workforce, we can save lives and build a healthier future for all. #HealthcareworkerWellbeing #WorkLifeBalance #NigeriaHealthcare #LagosHealthSummit2024 #PublicPrivatePartnerships

    Physiotherapist

Dearest gentle reader (as Lady Whistledown will say) I’m here again 🙂 Well, being a Physiotherapist is a great journey that requires passion and commitment. For me, gaining exposure and networking in the profession is crucial. The 5th Annual Lagos Health Summit themed, "FUTURE OF WELLNESS: FOSTERING COLLABORATION FOR A HEALTHIER POPULACE’’ held on the 26th of June, 2024 was one of such moments. I was privileged to sit under key professionals in healthcare in the persons of Olusegun Ogboye (Permanent Secretary, Lagos state ministry of health), Njide Ndili , Oluwatomi Kogo , Dr Ifunaya Ilodibe, among others. As a young physiotherapist, the summit reinforced my understanding about healthcare and technology, the importance of building a resilient and responsive healthcare system. Njide Ndili told us as young professionals to take over the system and not allow the analogue generation lead in our digital environment with their analogue mindset. I also appreciate the contribution of Dr Oluwatomi Kogo when she noted that our physical wellness determines a lot of things in our body system and exercises should be done regularly so as to promote wellness. The speakers were outstanding and I’m proud of what the Nigeria healthcare system will be in years to come because we are definitely getting there. I’m grateful for the opportunity and exposure this conference has endowed upon me. Thank you Lagos Health Summit
