Enforcement before approval?

[edit]

How can there be discussion of the enforcement of a proposed code of conduct before the code has been approved by the community? The WMF serves the community, not the other way around. Boud (talk) 23:12, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

All feedback is welcome, but please put in at the suitable place. Taylor 49 (talk) 12:56, 9 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Translations units are handled by bots?

[edit]

Hi. I wanted to add a translation unit for voting link, because apparently someone who was adding new stuff, forgot that the voting information page also happens to be translatable. However, the edit, despite being between <translate></translate> tags, is marked as not ready for translation, and no translation unit marker has appeared in it, eighter, so I figured out to add one manually, and I confirmed that it doesn't exist in the document yet, it's translation unit <!--T:152-->. Even after manually adding a translation unit marker to the new translation unit, the edits are still marked as not translation ready. I thought that it would be ready instantly. Is it handled by a bot or is there so much input for the system that it has to take time to process everything? I just hope that the manual addition of a translation unit marker doesn't mess this up. The documentation does say that it should never be added manually as it happens automatically, but as I said, I thought that it would be instant, or at least within a few seconds, and a minute goes by and nothing, so I figured out to add it myself to see if that fixes it: nope. — Polda18 (talkmy contributions) 21:07, 15 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Polda18: It’s handled by human translation administrators, which of course means that the processing time isn’t seconds, but in best case hours, in worst case years… To prevent the latter, you can write on Meta talk:Babylon if no one has found the page even after days. (And yes, when a translation administrator presses the appropriate button, the translation unit ID is automatically inserted in the page. You didn’t mess anything up, but you really don’t have to care about the unit ID next time, only the <translate> tags.) —Tacsipacsi (talk) 00:16, 16 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Tacsipacsi: Thank you, looks like they handled it now. I really thought that this process is automatic, I didn't expect a human review. It's been translated to Czech as well. — Polda18 (talkmy contributions) 06:10, 16 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
