This wiki without administrator(has an admin who has not done editing for 3 months and a half) contains this completely empty page. Its creator even indicated vide in the page (empty). Thank you in advance ;) --Eihel (talk) 16:49, 30 April 2019 (UTC)Eihel (talk) 15:15, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Out of scope content in lo.wp

Status:    Done

User Allbooks [stalktoy] – [cross-wiki edits] is uploading to Lao Wikipedia out of scope content, mainly belonging to Wikisource:

  • legal acts content:
Extended content

The user ignores requests not doing this: discussion on the user's talk page

Some discussion about this issue was on oldwikisource: s:mul:Wikisource:Scriptorium#Lao_laws

Please consider appropriate steps to stop this kind of activity of this user. They seem to speak English.

The above mentioned legal acts can be moved to oldwikisource. I have already exported them and waiting for rights to import. They can be deleted from lo.wp if you find this appropriate (IMO, they should).

Ragards, Ankry (talk) 09:46, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

After they're moved to Wikisource, they should be deleted. Please comment here when it's done. Vermont (talk) 13:12, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
There are many more such pages than the ones listed above. Please see all pages ending in dates in the contributions of the user on lowiki. By my count, it currently stands at 151 such pages. Note that because the user continues to upload these legal texts (even after the warnings), a static list may never be sufficient (unless the user is blocked from editing — and even then, they may try to circumvent the block). This wouldn't be so much of an issue, but the opinion has been expressed at s:mul:Wikisource:Scriptorium#Lao_laws that we should try to move all of these legal texts from lowiki to oldwikisource before they are deleted from the former. - dcljr (talk) 18:40, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
Without getting into all the details here, is there any reason they haven't been blocked yet? Praxidicae (talk) 18:44, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
There's no local admins. Vermont (talk) 18:51, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

@Ankry: Are the members of mulwikisource able to import them into mulWS in the interim? There is no need to await a resolution at loWP here. That may also allow us to demonstrate what is able to be done and lessen resistance of the contributor.  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:11, 19 April 2019 (UTC)

@Billinghurst: I am waiting until my above linked request for import rights matures (a week of local discussion is needed; started 2 days ago). I hoped, that somebody else could do it, but nobody volunteered till now. Can it be considered an urgent case and done by stewards? Ankry (talk) 05:19, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
A couple of thoughts. 1) It is not urgent, just important, so let it flow through normal processes. 2) If the user is going to just add valuable content, I think that we are better to try and work with them and coax them to move their additions to mulWS. So as I mentioned at s:mul:WS:S add the ability to directly import these works to community and do it rationally, and we can resolve the issues separately.  — billinghurst sDrewth 05:49, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
@Billinghurst, Vermont, and Praxidicae: I have already transferred the pages to oldwikisource and nominated the transferred pages for deletion (full list here) using my secondary account. Please, delete them. Ankry (talk) 19:18, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
OK, seems to be done by User:Aldnonymous. Thanks. Ankry (talk) 19:37, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
Ankry. Some page on the collapsible list is not tagged for deletion, so I won't delete those, thanks.--AldnonymousBicara? 19:39, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
Aldnonymous They seem to be not transferred yet. I will check them tomorrow. Ankry (talk) 19:42, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
@Ankry: Looks to me like everything got imported except lo:ດໍາລັດວ່າດ້ວຍການປະກອບແລະຄຸ້ມຄອງລົດປະຈໍາຕໍາແໜ່ງພະນັກງານການນໍາລະດັບສູງ 2017 (my evidence, FWIW), which presumably got overlooked because it's the only relevant title ending in only a year (instead of day-month-year). If there are any more legal texts over there that don't end in any numbers, I can't tell, since I don't read the language. BTW, @Billinghurst: I assume you saw this? Looks like Allbooks is likely to continue to upload inappropriate stuff in the future. Whether it will be obvious to any non-Lao readers is, of course, impossible to tell. - dcljr (talk) 21:05, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
@Dcljr: I transferred this one also. @Billinghurst, Vermont, Praxidicae, and Aldnonymous: And they may be deleted from lowiki; already requested for deletion as above.
I think, recreating the deleted content may be a reason to block the user, if they continue. Or am I wrong? Ankry (talk) 05:17, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
All deleted, and I think we should just block this guy from this one particular wiki to force this guy to move to Wikisource. (w:lo:ສົນທະນາຂອງຜູ້ໃຊ້:Allbooks).--AldnonymousBicara? 06:45, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
Thanks. I think, they should be blocked if they continue uploading Lao laws to Wikipedia after they were deleted there. While their response is not polite, I do not think it justifies a block. They seem to have some other contribution to Wikipedia that may be OK (however, I cannot judge here). Ankry (talk) 08:15, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
I don't suppose anyone wants to block Allbooks temporarily "per user request"? [grin] Oh, well… I guess I agree with Ankry about this. For the record, Allbooks' remaining contributions at lowiki do all seem to be legitimate articles (considering only newly created pages), based on Google translations of their titles and opening sentences. (If anyone's curious, the topics covered include animals, Buddhism, sexuality, and vitamins.) - dcljr (talk) 03:02, 29 April 2019 (UTC)
And IMO the section could be closed as done already. Ankry (talk) 15:05, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
Closed as done.--AldnonymousBicara? 15:05, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

OAuth approval request for RAMP2

Status:    Not done

Requesting approval of new OAuth consumer per instructions. --JoeRailfan (talk) 16:12, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

@JoeRailfan: The project is set to this wiki (instead of all wikis). RAMP says its goal is to "publish the content of those records as Wikipedia pages" so I assume that's not what you wanted? --Tgr (WMF) (talk) 17:19, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

Goal of the RAMP2 revision is to "publish the content of those records as Wikipedia pages" as before; new functionality to be added is "to reuse/remix the data and publish it as linked data in the knowledge base (Wikidata)." (This per my librarian contact.) It's not clear to me what the "Applicable projects" are for this application--should this be "All projects on this site"?

I also need to resubmit my OAuth consumer registration proposal as the app will require some additional grants I didn't specify in my first submission. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by JoeRailfan (talk) Please remember to sign your posts using --~~~~. (UTC)

@Tgr (WMF): for the above. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 21:16, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

@JoeRailfan: Yeah, it should be "All projects on this site". Or English Wikipedia if that's the only site where you plan to publish content. --Tgr (WMF) (talk) 21:42, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

Thanks. First attempt to resubmit my registration proposal failed with "There is already an app with that name". Resubmitted with Consumer Version bumped up to 2.0.1 and additional grants requested. --JoeRailfan (talk) 19:04, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

@JoeRailfan: looks good (yeah we don't have a sane way to resubmit things right now) but I'd recommend not asking for "View your watchlist" permission; it doesn't sound like your app actually needs that, and people might find it intrusive and you'll lose users because of it. (Or is that required for adding/removing items from the watchlist? If so, we should probably fix that.) --Tgr (WMF) (talk) 19:08, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

@Tgr (WMF): I requested that permission because the original RAMP app had it. I'm not even sure the app actually uses it, so can we leave it in for the time being? I'd like to have the app authorized for OAuth as soon as possible so I can get on with the modifications to it. On that subject, is there a sandbox environment for testing OAuth apps? If so I'd be fine with doing my development work there instead of tinkering with something ostensibly in production. --JoeRailfan (talk) 17:58, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

@JoeRailfan: non-approved consumers sort of serve as a test environment - you can test them with the same user that proposed them. (There isn't any great way to make clear something is for testing currently, people just tend to put "testing" into the consumer name or description.)

I don't have a problem with the watchlist permission, I'm just not sure it will serve you well (in the final version of the app). OTOH the current callback URL won't work; you need an URL you can actually control (the 2.0.0 version had that so I assume it's a typo?). --Tgr (WMF) (talk) 18:48, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

@Tgr (WMF): You're right, it's a typo--the callback URL needs to have the tool name in it. Resubmit the request as 2.0.2? Appreciate the help while I'm learning my way around Wiki world. --JoeRailfan (talk) 20:14, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

@JoeRailfan: yeah you'll have to resubmit as a new version. That's a bit stupid but that's the current level of tooling (OAuth is not very well supported). --Tgr (WMF) (talk) 20:44, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

@Tgr (WMF): The RAMP2 project is on hold (perhaps temporarily). Thanks for the help thus far. My OAuth consumer registration page currently shows I have 6 registered consumers, some dating back to 2017. Most of these were just for learning/testing--is there any way I can delete this cruft and start fresh? --JoeRailfan (talk) 20:36, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

@JoeRailfan: A steward / OAuth admin can do that for you. I don't think you can do it yourself currently. --Tgr (WMF) (talk) 23:24, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

Not done for the time being. Resubmit when things are ready. — regards, Revi 03:49, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

Update of s:he:MediaWiki:PageNumbers.js for the <pages/> function at Hebrew Wikisource

Status:    Not done

On Wikisource wikis, there is a <pages/> function implemented. An Interface administrator is needed to update s:he:MediaWiki:PageNumbers.js in order to provide added functionally to the <pages/> function, specifically so that the function will indicated the individual pages and show page numbers in the margin.

For an example of how the <pages/> function is supposed to work, please see this example at English Wikisource. In Hebrew Wikisource, all the function currently does is show the range of pages, but it does not indicate the individual pages nor show the numbers in the margin.

(Also please note that as Hebrew is an RTL language, the page numbers should be shown if possible in the right margin rather than in the left margin.)

Thanks to anyone who can assist, Dovi (talk) 07:13, 17 April 2019 (UTC)

@Dovi: pagenumbers.js is a complex beast, and the WSes themselves have issues getting someone to play. Getting someone to play with it here is going to be difficult, and you may have more luck at Tech.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:11, 17 April 2019 (UTC)
Thanks very much billinghurst, I'll ask there too. Dovi (talk) 14:11, 17 April 2019 (UTC)
Based on the response of a techy guy, I guess nothing needs to be done from Meta. Therefore Not done. Trijnsteltalk 12:26, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

Lao Wikipedia: Indexing by robots of user pages

Status:    Not done

Can someone solve this problem or tell me where I should ask: in the Wikipedia in Lao, subpages of userpages are open to robots of search engines. Here an example page with the line: Indexing by robots = Allowed. In other language versions this is not allowed (which makes much sense, because the general public don't wants to find user pages of wikipedians). Thank you --Hadi (talk) 19:44, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

@Hadi: Hi. This is controlled by the $wgNamespaceRobotPolicies MediaWiki configuration variable. You can see Wikimedia's current settings here (warning: large page). I suggest you open a ticket on Phabricator to change the configuration variable for lo.wikipedia. The ticket should be under the "Wikimedia-Site-requests" tag. Regards, PiRSquared17 (talk) 04:57, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
Thank you PiRSquared17. I will try to open a ticket on Phabricator (I have never done it).--Hadi (talk) 10:46, 10 May 2019 (UTC)

Add ar.wikibooks and ar.wikiversity to Global bot wikis

Status:    Done

Please add Arabic Wikibooks (ar.wikibooks) and Arabic Wikiversity (ar.wikiversity) to the Global bot wikis wiki set (and allow automatic approval like other Arabic sister projects). They are the only Arabic wikis that are not part of the Global bot wikis wiki set yet. See Announcement on ar.wikibooks village pump and Announcement on ar.wikiversity village pump and Announcement on the Arabic sister projects village pump. (As per the new process on Arabic projects, we discuss issues related to sister projects in the Arabic sister projects village pump and add a link to the discussion in the sister projects local village pumps as I did here.) Also, note that I posted the announcement in Arabic instead of the standard message in English. (As I am a native Arabic speaker, I believe it is better to use Arabic when addressing other Arabic speakers.) Announcement was made on May 3rd (more than one week ago) and there was no opposition. Thank you in advance. (@علاء: Please confirm the request.) --Meno25 (talk) 19:43, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

Request for block and nuke in Thai Wikipedia

Status:    Not done

Greetings from th:Thai Wikipedia. Currently the wiki has facing a problem where a user create multiple hoax articles, namely Ramita peebun (talk · contribs). I have raised a concern at the local admin's noticeboard and get no response in almost a day. Since this is a pressing issue and an uncontroversial one, I would like to ask a steward to block and nuke articles this person created. The articles are:

Antolepore2 evading global lock

Status:    Done

Special:Contributions/Antolepore2 (global acct) is evading a global lock on Special:Contributions/Antolepore (global acct). They are insistent on writing an article about themselves on enwiki (draft, now deleted), as well as moving cross-wiki to complain when they get blocked. The original account was blocked on itwiki for legal threats, and then blocked on enwiki for doing nothing but complaining about the itwiki admins. The new account was blocked on enwiki for sock puppetry and instead of engaging there, (where the community might be willing to consider an unblock request), are now on my talk page here on metawiki. --ST47 (talk) 16:42, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
