Approve IABotManagementConsole consumer

Status:    Done

Can someone please approve the IABotManagementConsole consumer. This web interface, still in development, will allow users to be more active in the maintenance of IABot's DB, and will provide tools to users that allow them to run rescue process IABot performs on the articles of their choosing. This interface will not collect data from users except for usernames, and oauth tokens are retained in the session data for no more than 30 days after the session was last used.—cyberpower ChatHello! 17:38, 30 September 2016 (UTC)

URGENT: Create pages right for Fountain

Status:    Done

Please add the 'Create Pages' right to Fountain tool: there's an ungoing Inclusionist edit-a-thon in RuWiki, Fountain is adding a 'This article has been edited during the Inclusionist Edit-a-thon' template to the talk page, but it cannot add it if the talk page does not exist. Le Loy 23:49, 1 October 2016 (UTC)

I think that you should a create a proposal first. Ruslik (talk) 19:45, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
There is an approved proposal (see here), it needs to be extended. Do I have to create a new proposal for that? Le Loy 00:11, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
Yes, you do. Ruslik (talk) 20:11, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
Here it is. Le Loy 22:39, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletions in ceb.wikipedia

Status:    Done

In this moment there are + 100 pages and files tagged with speedy delete template in ceb.wikipedia. There is no local sysop activity for more than a month: one on September 7th, other on August 18th and the rest on August 6th. This admin is not really active since August 8th. Thank you. --Metrónomo-Goldwyn-Mayer 20:19, 9 October 2016 (UTC)

Proposal: Add a global abusefilter

Status:    Not done

As known from the #wikimedia-stewards channel, we have a lot spambots. So my proposal is, to add this abusefilter:

user_editcount < 5
& added_lines rlike "</a>"

I made good experience with this kind of filter. Why? </a> is not wikisyntax, but a lot of spambots are using it still, for html weblinks. I'm working with this king of filter at the beta-cluster and at test2wiki, for example see beta (only one false positive, depends on the beta conditions), test2 (no known false positives). I guess a warning only filter should be enough, the most spambots don't try it again after a warning. For questions please ping, I'm not often at meta, but via croswiki notifications I can see it. Cheers, Luke081515 23:16, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

Actually, well written spambots will not attempt to do this as it is useless. On the other hand, new users sometimes attempt to add links this way. Ruslik (talk) 04:36, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
Well-written spambots would not spam. It does happen regularly that spambots introduce HTML-tags (1, 2, ...) but they are usually already stopped by other filters. Savhñ 11:19, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
I don't think they are usually stopped by other filters: Take a look at test2wiki abuse log, and compare, which users, who got catched by filter 6 there, got catched by other filtes. I guess about ~33%. Concerning the argument with new users: That's why the filter should be "warning only", because if a new users uses that tag, he can continue, but spambots who are using the HMTL-Tag don't continue after that warning. Cheers, Luke081515 13:10, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

Does not seem to have been necessary. Marking as closed. --MF-W 19:34, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Copyrighted content in pam.wikipedia

Status:    Done

All the pages cited in pam:Pamagat da reng Kawatasan and pam:Peña, Tony y Mercado (see pam:Category:Peña, Tony y Mercado, Peña, Tony & Mercado are the authors, aparently) is copyrighted content, e.g. pam:Balikbalen. This pages was created in 2005 by a local admin! (not active since 2015). This pages are poems or songs, out off scope from a Wikipedia but not aceptable in Wikisource. I write here because it is a Wikipedia without active local sysops. Or there is no information that I have... If the content is not free should be deleted. He also created the bio of the authors (see in the cited pages), they are contemporary people. I have two theories, or they wanted published their works under free license or they wanted promoted using Wikipedia. Any personal website cited are broken links. There are other account involved, some with the same names as the authors cited. --Metrónomo-Goldwyn-Mayer 13:47, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

pam:File:RocKapampangan.jpg is a cover disc in a Wikipedia without Exemption Doctrine Policy, and missing source, author, license... --Metrónomo-Goldwyn-Mayer 14:05, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletes in nds-nl.wikipedia

Unnecessary protections in pam.wikipedia

Status:    Done

The following pages are fully protected in pam.wikipedia, this means that anyone can edit it because there are no active local sysops: Bongaigaon, Tamluk, Kakumanu and Michel Suleiman were protected in the second edit after being created, George W. Bush had two reverted edits made by no autoconfirmed users, one in 2008 and other in 2009. I think those pages should be unprotected. Thank you. --Metrónomo-Goldwyn-Mayer 11:18, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Double redirects that bots cannot fix

Status:    Not done

We have a large number of wikis with Double Redirect issues. I operate a bot that fixes this on practically every wiki. Over the years these smaller wikis have accumulated double redirects bots cannot fix. This may be because the page is protected or because the double redirect is formed due to a circular or self redirects.

The protected pages can be due to admin protections or user .js or .css files that are leftover as redirects if the user account is moved more than once. I fixed plenty of these on Commons wiki using my admin privileges. An admin helped me with the task on en.wikipedia. If the bot (User:タチコマ robot) is given global sysop (even briefly) it can fix the protected double redirect pages on the smaller wikis.

After that there still will be a need to process whats left manually. I tend to recommend speedy deletion of circular redirects since they lead to nowhere to begin with.

If you desire rights to do this yourself, this request would be better placed on SRGP. --MF-W 19:33, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
As you wish. I will post something there for the bot, however this is an issue that needs resolution independent of that decision. Aside from the bot-related task it is too difficult of a task for a single individual probably. Not so much of an issue if crowd sourced. -- とある白い猫 chi? 09:04, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
@MF-Warburg: There you go: Steward requests/Global permissions#Global sysop for タチコマ robot. To be honest I do not expect much, people often are paranoid about bots with admin flag. -- とある白い猫 chi? 09:42, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
@MF-Warburg: As expected not much will seemingly come from it. Instead of tearing down the thing I am going to let it run its full course, maybe it can initiate some sort of discussion on the matter. To be honest, I too do not see the point of granting the bot full global sysop access when it only needs to edit protected pages. Alternatively a special flag could be granted to bots that allow them to edit protected pages but not offer any additional access. I do not believe such a privilege exist at the moment.
If bot isn't going to work on this task, then it would be necessary for global admins and/or stewards to take care of it. I recognize it could be a lot of man hours.
-- とある白い猫 chi? 19:26, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
To be honest I would not have had a problem with granting the bot GS for a short time. I am a bit disappointed that the request was immediately bombarded with pile-on opposes. But of course if a "lower" right like interface-editor works as well, that is good. I commented on the new request. --MF-W 21:28, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
@MF-Warburg: This access will thin the problem (fixing protected pages) but not completely resolve it. We will have broken redirects (the bot can tag these for speedy deletion or delete them if it has admin rights), circular redirects (including self redirects) bot will skip them, and finally interwiki redirects. The last item isn't a problem as far as logs are concerned for the time being unless a redirect points to an interwiki redirect - which forms a double redirect as far as he logs are concerned. -- とある白い猫 chi? 08:37, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

Comment Comment As I mentioned at the other location, the actual right needed for this task would be 'global interface editor', not global sysop. Revent (talk) 19:51, 22 October 2016 (UTC)

I have filed an Interface editors permission request for the bot per IRC discussion with above user. -- とある白い猫 chi? 20:04, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
