The USS New Jersey (NCC-1975) was a Constitution-class Federation starship operated by Starfleet in the 23rd century. By the 24th century, it had been decommissioned and was preserved at the Fleet Museum orbiting Athan Prime.

In 2369, Jean-Luc Picard, while discussing a holographic re-creation of the USS Enterprise bridge with Montgomery Scott, noted that he was familiar with the Constitution class from the one on display at the museum. (TNG: "Relics")

When the USS Titan-A visited the Fleet Museum in 2401, the New Jersey was among the ships Seven of Nine quizzed Jack Crusher about. (PIC: "The Bounty", "Vox")

This ship's name and registry are references to showrunner Terry Matalas being born in New Jersey in 1975.

Before Star Trek: Picard, the Pocket TOS novel Living Memory assigned the registry NCC-1975 to the Soyuz-class ship USS Amazon.

Despite appearing after the introduction of the retcon design of the Constitution class, the New Jersey uses Matt Jefferies' original design.
