Official USS Titan (1st of it's own class - Titaan class).

Officially released by Paramount on 2002.

Sources with official credits: http://www.ussmiranda.com/frames.htm, "ship database"

Since Memory Alpha only considers information as canon, which was either mentioned or shown on screen, i doubt that the titan class-article should be created here. the best would be to implememt that info under "background information" at the USS Titan article. --BlueMars 13:14, Jun 19, 2004 (CEST)

From the owner of ussmiranda.com - My design is pureply concjectural. That credit was taken from behind the scenes information at the time that a design for the Titan had indeed been commissioned (though this has never been confirmed.) I assumed Paramount would have trademarked the name "Titan Class Starship". That page will be amended following the Pocket books contest. - Patrick Weber, webmaster, ussmiranda.com USS Titan non-Canon from the novel Star Trek Titan, Taking Wing'The USS Titan (NCC-80102) is a Luna class starship. It has a crew of 350, and is approximately 450 meters long. The Titan is the most varied multispecies crew in Starfleet history, less then 15% of the crew is Human.

Galaxy Class[]

I can't remember where I heard this, but I was under the impression that the starship Titan was a Galaxy class ship. I'll keep checking.--Just James 10:28, 13 November 2006 (GMT+10:00)

It was implied in Nemesis that Riker's ship is a Galaxy Class ship. The luna class described above would be one of the smallest ships in the fleet and the name Titan would be a sick joke. I haven't read any of the non-cannon Titan novels, but if Riker was assigned to a little ship then it would be a demotion. According to the US Navy, small ships are commanded by junior officers to prepare them for command. Also, it would not be "heading up the fleet" as Riker says in Nemesis. Small ships serve as escorts to freighter convoys or as scouts for the larger, more important capital ships. Small ships carry minimal weapons and defenses and would not last very long in a fight.

It is never implied that I saw that he was going to command a Galaxy class. In addition, Starfleet is not the US Navy, and small ships can be very powerful (see the Defiant and Intrepid class). --OuroborosCobra talk 17:17, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Dead link?[]

Anyone else having a problem with the link given for the sketches of the Titan?

I suggest substituting it with

http://www.simonsays.com/content/feature.cfm?sid=44&feature_id=4347&wsref=3&num=421&v_ref=http%3a%2f%2fwww.simonsays.com%2fcontent%2ffeature.cfm%3fsid%3d44%26feature_id%3d2893

If possible. The preceding unsigned comment was added by AnonyQ (talkcontribs).

Both links to the graphics are broken, this one above also. I suggest removing them all. Can I get a heads up from an admin or should I just be bold?--Obey the Fist!! 14:59, February 23, 2010 (UTC)
I've tagged it with the {{broken link}} template. -- sulfur 15:05, February 23, 2010 (UTC)

Removal of non-canon material[]

I removed the following:

In 2367, Barash created a holoprogram of a fictional future based on William T. Riker's memories and expectations. In Riker's fictional service record in the holoprogram, upon being promoted to captain, Riker supposedly assumed command of the Titan in 2370, on stardate 47203. Under his command, the Titan was assigned to provide tactical support for Starbase 384, a Starfleet outpost located near the Romulan Neutral Zone. Later, during the Praetor Campaign, the starship prevented a preemptive strike by the Romulans into the Gamma Hydra sector. On stardate 51253, Captain Riker was given command of the Enterprise-D, and a new captain assumed command of the Titan. (TNG: "Future Imperfect")

I just rewatched Future Imperfect to be sure. There is no mention of the Titan or a "Praetor Campaign". Admiral Picard specifically mentions that Riker was in command of the USS Enterprise. Admiral William Thomas Riker (talk) 02:05, October 9, 2013 (UTC)

are you sure it was the newest version of Future Imperfect on the blu ray set? Jkirk8907 (talk) 04:24, October 9, 2013 (UTC)
It was from an okudagram not dialogue. --Pseudohuman (talk) 10:55, October 9, 2013 (UTC)
This could be a retcon that they added while remastering the episode for the blu-ray release. 31dot (talk) 11:18, October 9, 2013 (UTC)
It is. I've gone ahead and reverted the original removal -- Capricorn (talk) 17:38, October 9, 2013 (UTC)

Hi ! did you screenshot new displaygraphic ? C-IMZADI-4 (talk) 18:36, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

When I wrote that paragraph, I had to ask myself, what was it about the Titan that Riker waited 12 years to become her commander?Throwback (talk) 06:28, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

someone could make screenshot ?C-IMZADI-4 (talk) 16:54, November 15, 2013 (UTC)

Christine Vale[]

Why is she linked on there? Isn't she entirely from Memory Beta? --Pauldarklord (talk) 14:41, June 14, 2019 (UTC)

Titan vs. Titan-A in Picard Season 2[]

I feel like I'm prematurely asking this but due to the fact that we know that USS Titan-A is being revealed in PIC Season 3. How do we know that the Titan we hear in the first episode of Season 2 "The Star Gazer" isn't the Titan-A?--Jkirk8907 (talk) 17:49, 30 December 2022 (UTC)

Sounds like it officially is the USS Titan-A, though it appears it's a year before it's official launch date, in 2402. See here:[1] Appalachia Actual (talk) 21:36, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
I might suggest therefore moving the mention of the cadet being assigned to this Titan to the Titan-A article. Doogie2K (talk) 17:28, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Article Rename[]

Proposing an article rename to match other articles with starships of the same name. In this case, "USS Titan (NCC-80102)". Appalachia Actual (talk) 21:38, 11 February 2023 (UTC)

I agree we should move it. Especially with the Titan-A around the corner.--Jkirk8907 (talk) 23:10, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
Sure, when the time comes. Otherwise, the reason why it is here is as valid as why Voyager is not qualified. --Gvsualan (talk) 05:15, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

Captain Shaw in command beginning 2396?[]

It's been established that Captain Shaw took command of the "Titan" around 2396 (five years prior to 2401). However showrunner Terry Matalas has stated that his Titan-A launched in 2401 (correcting the mistaken picardlog), after what was initially planned to be a refit of NCC-80102 turned into construction of the (mostly) new ship NCC-80102-A (again per Picard Logs). So are we to assume that Shaw took command of Riker's Titan in 2396 then? He's been commanding the Titan for five years, but apparently the Titan-A (cannibalizing internal parts from Riker's Titan) didn't launch until 2401. The whole Titan to Titan-A transition has been very confusing. Wasoha (talk) 01:13, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

We really shouldn't assume anything from information provided on Twitter or the Picard Logs, especially if they conflict with so.ething that can otherwise be determine alone from on screen sources. –Gvsualan (talk) 01:59, 4 March 2023 (UTC)
