"Over fifty years after the species' introduction in "Journey to Babel", Hemmer is the first Andorian to be a regular cast member in a Star Trek series."

I've removed this sentence because The Aenar makes it clear that while Aenar are similar to Andorians, they are not considered Andorians:

  • PHLOX: There's no exact match in my database. However, the nearest genome is Andorian.
  • SHRAN: They're extremely secretive. I can count on one hand the number of Andorians who've seen one face-to-face.
  • LISSAN: I know what the Andorians have told us. Someone's been attacking your ships, and you believe we're involved.

I'm don't think the mansplaination was necessary. Clearly it was a misidentification, because he was clearly identified as an Aenar in CotC. --Gvsualan (talk) 17:03, 15 May 2022 (UTC)

I've gotten into trouble on Memory Beta for not explaining my edits properly, so I decided not to take any chances here. --Crossover Fan001 (talk) 00:28, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

Hemmer's Rank Braids[]

I just switched his rank back to Lieutenant because it has long been established that dialog trumps costuming. See O'Brien and Tuvok. Honestly, the rank braids on SNW are all over the place; Spock, La'an and Ortegas are Lieutenants in dialog but Lieutenant Commanders according to their rank braids. There's almost no way there are that many Lieutenant Commanders on board, especially since Una is evidently still a Lieutenant Commander herself (rank braids notwithstanding). Hemmer and M'Benga wear Commander braids but almost can't be, since that would mean they both outrank Spock, who is third in command. Even Chapel wears Commander braids despite being a civilian. We need to accept that SNW's costuming dept. was evidently not informed of what ranks the characters were.
