Security/Tactical[]

In the begining of The Next Generation, Tasha Yar was the Security cheif but Worf was the Tactical Officer, I thought Worf took the Security Cheif job after Yar's death. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.125.95.154.

In TNG starship duties, the job of security chief and tactical officer has become one and the same -- according to Yar, Worf and Tuvok all being referred to as holding both stations simultaneously...
Worf was never referred to as a tactical officer before he took over for Tasha, so i'm not sure that was his position -- Tasha was also reffered to as being the tactical station while she was security chief. When Worf started aboard the Enterprise he was a command officer, but his position was never mentioned -- he filled in at ops, conn and sciences -- and occasionally tactical, but he was never referred to as being a science officer or pilot, was he?-- Captain M.K. Freeman[]

I'm wondering if Lt. Freeman should be added to the list for TOS, since the character (played by Paul Baxley) is called "Security Chief" in the credits for "Assignment: Earth." cvalin 04:26, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Seems fair enough to me. But since this was just in the credits, a small background note stating the source would be good (so people know where we're coming from). – Cleanse 06:02, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Cool. Thanks, I'll add him. cvalin 14:25, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

I formatted and expanded the note a bit based on Freeman. If this is incorrect, feel free to work on it further. :-) – Cleanse 05:36, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Another DS9 Starfleet Security Officer[]

Somewhere in season 1 or 2, there was another Starfleet officer in charge of security before Eddington. I actually came here looking for his name. I don't remember the episode, but I remember when Odo came to Ops and the Officer over pronounced his name, trying to be jolly and friendly, and Odo asked him how many commanding officers he had lost, because Sisko was missing. (Or something to that effect.) Anyway, I thought I'd give the heads up on the omition. Medleystudios72 00:43, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Long after the fact, it was George Primmin. --Alan del Beccio (talk) 16:08, August 14, 2017 (UTC)

Tuvok[]

I know it was mentioned in "Scientific Method" that Tuvok had "13 department heads" that reported to him daily, but I thought in Starfleet (as in other militaries) that department heads generally reported to the first officer as the 'go-between' the captain and crew. 74.69.11.229 00:15, November 6, 2012 (UTC)

I think because Tuvok was both Security chief and second officer maybe thats why he has 13 department heads reporting to him. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Commander Stephen Avril (talkcontribs).
