Lieutenant Commander Swhale Swhalens was a hybrid individual created from the forced transporter merging of Steve Stevens and Matt, by means of the symbiogenetic alien orchid, aboard the USS Cerritos in 2381. Their creation was ordered by T'Illups, who sought to create an army of hybrids, so as to escape the fate suffered by Tuvix on the USS Voyager. Swhalens and Shabarnes were created after Frigleeman and before Chondus. T'Illups regarded Swhalens as being "not [their] best work", as he was rather inarticulate.
After T'Illups' group combined Lieutenant Westlake and Ensign Jennifer Sh'reyan, all six hybrids were beamed into the brig by Ensign T'Lyn. However, since they were carrying samples of the orchid, they re-materialized as a single non-sentient amalgamation. (LD: "Twovix")
