Sequoia

The Sequoia was a Federation shuttlecraft that was in service to Starfleet in the late 24th century and attached to the USS Cerritos.

The shuttlecraft was built in the Cerritos's Repair Bay 5 on Deck 11, using salvaged parts: it had a Type 6A's main body, but mated with a Type 6's warp nacelles, along with panels that had scratches, stains, and differing coloration. Ensigns Brad Boimler, Beckett Mariner, D'Vana Tendi, and Sam Rutherford worked on the Sequoia on a regular basis, and fitted it with two phasers that were more powerful than those on standard shuttlecraft.

All standard markings were hand-drawn by the ensigns, such as the craft's name and the Cerritos's registration number. Shark teeth were also painted on the Sequoia's nose, with stick figures representing the four ensigns drawn on its side doors.

During the Pakleds' attack on the Cerritos in 2380, Lieutenant Shaxs and Rutherford flew the Sequoia to the Pakled ship, smashing through its hull so that Rutherford could implant the virus created by Badgey into their ship's computers. Shaxs ended up sacrificing himself, but not before he put Rutherford in the shuttle and pushed it back into space just before the Pakled vessel self-destructed. The damaged Sequoia was subsequently recovered and returned to the Cerritos's Repair Bay 5. (LD: "Strange Energies")

In 2381, Rutherford and Tendi climbed on top of the Sequoia to avoid being crushed by dooplercating Dooplers, and from there escaped the repair bay through a hatch in the ceiling. (LD: "An Embarrassment Of Dooplers")

In 2381, the Sequoia was still in the process of being repaired by the ensigns. (LD: "Reflections")

A grappler was installed on the Sequoia, though its aim was off as Rutherford pinned Tendi's arm to the wall instead of the apple Boimler held. Later, having brought Goodgey on board, the aiming was better, but still off as it had pinned Boimler by his leg (LD: "A Few Badgeys More")
