The Type 6A shuttlecraft was a warp-capable Federation shuttlecraft that was in service to Starfleet during the late 24th century. At least five were assigned to the USS Cerritos, while the USS Vancouver and the USS Titan were each assigned at least three.

Technical data[]

Specifications[]

The type of shuttle was similar in appearance to the Type 8, but closer in size to the Galileo-type shuttlecraft.

Coltrane

The variant used aboard the USS Titan

The nacelles of these shuttles varied slightly, somewhat resembling those on the California-class ships, while a secondary design bore nacelles that resembled those of Luna-class ships. (LD: "Second Contact", "Kayshon, His Eyes Open")

The shuttle's coolant intake compressors were located on either side of the the upper aft quarter. The plasma transfer subsystem and primary field generators were located in the nacelles. The navigational deflectors were located on the shuttle's bow. Interior features included an avionics bay and a flight control interface. (LD: "Mugato, Gumato")

Yosemite with blast shield

Blast shield

In 2380, at least one shuttle of this class had been recently equipped with a new type of blast shield. (LD: "Envoys")

Interior configuration[]

The interior consisted of a standard cockpit with seating for two, with a small cabin in the aft. Overall, it was limited to a crew capacity of approximately eight. (LD: "Temporal Edict")

Entry to the shuttle was through a large hatch in the rear of the craft, with two additional hatches located on both sides behind the pilot chairs. There were benches for passenger seating in the aft section, parallel to the rear walls, with ample room for cargo. (LD: "Temporal Edict") A replicator was located on the port side between the bench and exit hatch, but this was not solely relied upon in an emergency, so a supply of emergency rations was also stored onboard as well. (LD: "Where Pleasant Fountains Lie")

The cockpit had two swiveled chairs with approximately 180° of forward control consoles wrapped around the forward section with a small viewscreen integrated into the panel. (LD: "We'll Always Have Tom Paris")
