Rhode Island was a region located on the Atlantic coast of the North American continent of Earth. This was a state in the United States of America. The bordering states were Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. It was one of the original thirteen states of the United States, and was mentioned, as Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, in Article I of the United States Constitution. (DS9: "Little Green Men"; ENT: "Storm Front", "Storm Front, Part II")

In an alternate timeline in which Nazi Germany had invaded the United States, as of 1944 Rhode Island was controlled by German forces. (ENT: "Storm Front", "Storm Front, Part II")

In 2152, Jonathan Archer referenced Rhode Island when he attempted to teach Trip Tucker how to play the game Geography. Archer explained the game by giving the example: "You say Amazon River which ends in an "R" and then I say Rhode Island." (ENT: "Desert Crossing")

Omega IV[]

On the planet Omega IV, this was one of the states of a parallel United States. It was mentioned in Article I of their Constitution. (TOS: "The Omega Glory")

Rhode Island was seen on a map of the United States (Die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika). The contours of this state were seen in a map of the United States in "Little Green Men".

In a scene deleted from "Fight or Flight", Ensign Travis Mayweather also referenced Rhode Island in a similar game he played with Archer. Mayweather and Archer actually used the same locations as Tucker and Archer later.

The USS Rhode Island was named after the state, as was a WWI-era US battleship.
