Regulators, wielding hand cannons, chasing escaping prisoners on Hunhau
A regulator was an armed enforcer for the Emerald Chain in the 32nd century.
Regulators wore a uniform with the insignia of their employer on a sash. They were equipped with personal transporters and hand cannons. Some wore helmets to obscure their identities.
Regulators served as guards at mercantile exchanges. At the salvage yard on Hunhau, the regulators performed the role of prison guards over slave laborers.
Also at the Mercantile on Hima, the regulators confirmed the transfer of payment from holobuyer to holoseller to the Orions who ran the marketplace. Several regulators assisted Osyraa in capturing the USS Discovery near the Verubin Nebula. The regulators were able take control of Discovery and force Paul Stamets to take Osyraa to Federation Headquarters. After retaking control of the ship, Commander Michael Burnham had them beamed aboard the Viridian which Discovery then destroyed. While time cycling due to a time bug, Burnham and Commander Rayner were sent back in time to Osyraa's takeover of Discovery where they encountered and fought several regulators. Although one nearly killed Rayner, he was saved by Commander Jett Reno. (DIS: "Face the Strange")
