Porta was a male Bajoran who rose to the spiritual position of vedek during the late-24th century.

Following Akorem Laan's return from the Bajoran wormhole in 2372, Porta supported Akorem's installment as Emissary of the Prophets. He also talked to Benjamin Sisko and agreed with him that as long as Sisko made it clear that he was stepping aside voluntarily, the Bajoran people would support Akorem as Emissary.

Porta believed in the historical Bajoran caste system of D'jarra which prohibited members of certain families from assuming roles within the religious hierarchy. One such family was that of Imutta. When the D'jarra system was briefly reinstated by Akorem under much controversy, Porta made his support public when he admitted to the murder of Imutta for daring to act as a vedek despite his family's caste. Porta was arrested by Odo and charged. (DS9: "Accession")
