Starfleet uniform pockets

Rutherford pulling out his pockets

A pocket was a pouch sewn into an item of clothing, such as pants, to allow the wearer to carry small items. Sometimes they could be closed using zippers.

The nursery rhyme "Ring Around the Rosie" mentioned a "pocket full of posy". (TOS: "And the Children Shall Lead")

During the late 20th century, doctor's were often known for wearing pocket pagers. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)

Pockets were sometimes used to carry money. In his song "We Trying to Stay Alive", Wyclef Jean asked that any listeners with more than a dollar in their pockets put their hands up. (DIS: "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad")

In 2381, when Captain Carol Freeman was leading her away team on New Axton to Mudds in the Pickpockets District, Sam Rutherford jokingly said that his uniform didn't even have pockets. To his surprise, his pants actually did have pockets, he had just never noticed them before. (LD: "The Inner Fight")
