Noah Averbach-Katz (born 20 April 1988; age 36) is an actor who played Ryn in the Star Trek: Discovery third season episodes "Scavengers", "The Sanctuary", and "There Is A Tide...".

He is the ex-husband of Discovery actress Mary Wiseman. He and Wiseman were both classmates with another Discovery actress, Mary Chieffo, at the Juilliard School's Drama Division.

Raised in Fairfax, Marin County, California, Averbach-Katz often attended Star Trek conventions as a child with his Trekkie mother. [1] Due to his previous experience with the franchise, he helped Wiseman prepare for her Discovery audition. [2]

Averbach-Katz auditioned for the character of Spock for the second season of Discovery, though the part ultimately went to Ethan Peck. While the character was coded in the audition scripts as an Andorian named "Tom", due to his Trek knowledge Averbach-Katz deduced the character was supposed to be Vulcan. [3]

He ran a Dungeons & Dragons campaign for Discovery cast members Anthony Rapp, Emily Coutts, Blu del Barrio, Ian Alexander, and Mary Wiseman. [4] [5] He has since started an actual play series titled "Disco Does DnD" with Anthony Rapp, Blu del Barrio, and Ian Alexander as regular players and with Mary Wiseman and Mary Chieffo as guest players.

A regular streamer of Star Trek Online, Averbach-Katz was invited by Cryptic Studios to voice Rae'Yeet, an Andorian from the mirror universe, in the game's "Stormfall" update in May 2022; the in-game mission in which he appeared also featured the voices of Mary Wiseman, Chase Masterson, and Kipleigh Brown.
