A frying pan, sauté pan, or simply pan, was a kitchen utensil used to sauté or fry food.

She responded with the fact that he was "tasting some of it now," because, "I couldn't scrape three layers of your leavings out of that pan." Childress claimed that that might be possible if she could find "a well [and] some decent water," to which she suggested, "why don't you hang your pan out in the wind and let the sand blast it clean."
