James "Jim" Portnoy (18 November 1936 – 28 July 2017; age 80) was an actor who made several appearances on Star Trek including two Star Trek films, and episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager. He received no credit for these appearances.

Portnoy previously worked as a stand-in for Christopher Plummer and Richard Gere. [1] Background roles include the Columbo episode "Columbo Goes to College" (1990, with William Lucking, James Ingersoll, Karl Wiedergott, David Cowgill, Anthony Gordon, S. Reed, and Jeri McBride), the Frasier episodes "Dinner at Eight", "I Hate Frasier Crane", and "The Crucible" (1993, with Kelsey Grammer, Tory Christopher, Holiday Freeman, John Rubinstein, and Eugenie Bondurant), and the Cybill episodes "The Last Temptation of Cybill" (1995) and "The Cheese Stands Alone" (1995, with Irving Ross, Holiday Freeman, Ronald R. Rondell, Hal Needham, Joe Piscopo, William Steinfeldt, and Robert Buckingham).

He also appeared in The Bodyguard (1992, with Bill Cobbs, Mike Starr, Bert Remsen, Donald Hotton, Douglas Price, Dan Koko, Michelle Rudy, John Tesh, George Sasaki, Bruce Dobos, Kevin Grevioux, Curt Truman, Rudy Morrison, Juan De Villa, Adolphus Hankins, and Robert Buckingham), The Distinguished Gentleman (1992, with Victor Rivers, Noble Willingham, Gary Frank, Daniel Benzali, Julianna McCarthy, Dion Anderson, Gary Price, Lena Banks, Sam Alejan, Gene Poe, Lou DeGrado, John Copage, Sherry O'Keefe, S.
