Doctor Erin Macdonald, commonly referred to as just Doctor Erin, was a female Human Starfleet lieutenant commander who served as an instructor at Starfleet Academy in the 2380s. (LD: "First First Contact"; PRO: "Temporal Mechanics 101")

Starfleet career[]

She taught the Temporal Mechanics 101 and Temporal Mechanics 201 courses at Starfleet Academy. (PRO: "Temporal Mechanics 101", "Ouroboros, Part II")

In 2384, seeing how Rok-Tahk was taking care of Murf, Dr. Macdonald oriented the Brikar toward an exobiologist career. (PRO: "Supernova, Part 2")

Academic impact[]

In 2381, when USS Archimedes fell into the gravity well of Lapeeria, Kayshon suggested warping past the debris separating the USS Cerritos from the Archimedes, and Shaxs shouted at him, saying that Doctor Erin said that they couldn't do that. (LD: "First First Contact")

In 2384, Dal R'El watched a recording of Macdonald's Temporal Mechanics 101 course, only after having accidentally altered the timeline on future Solum. (PRO: "Temporal Mechanics 101")

Background information[]

The character is voiced by, named for, and based on the likeness of Erin Macdonald, an astrophysicist and science consultant for the Star Trek franchise since 2019. [1]

Apocrypha[]

In the second issue of the 2023 Star Trek: Deep Space Nine comic The Dog of War, set in 2374, Doctor Erin Macdonald is said to be a friend of Jadzia Dax working at the Daystrom Institute.

Macdonald, also voiced by and modeled on her real-world namesake, appears in the Star Trek Online mission "Taken By Surprise", set in 2411, and added to the game in September 2023. Now with the rank of commander, she serves on the science vessel USS Inouye under the command of Captain Harry Kim.
