Lieutenant William Christopher was a Starfleet operations officer who served on the USS Discovery in the mid-23rd century.

In 2258, Christopher was among the crewmembers who volunteered to stay on the Discovery and accompany Michael Burnham into the 32nd century, with no chance of return. He was presumed dead by Starfleet afterwards, based on the testimonies of the USS Enterprise senior officers. (DIS: "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2", "Species Ten-C")

In 3190, Christopher filled in for Lt. Commander Ronald A. Bryce at the communications station on the bridge of the USS Discovery while Bryce was serving as consultant aboard the USS Curie. Christopher's time on the bridge included missions to Alshain IV and Deep Space Repair Beta Six. (DIS: "Kobayashi Maru")

During Discovery's stay in the orbit of Ni'Var, Christopher was working together with Lieutenant Ina on something related to the Dark Matter Anomaly. (DIS: "All Is Possible")

Lt. Christopher later served at communications during the mission to evacuate Radvek V, coordinating Discovery's communication with the colony's magistrate. He stepped into the role on a permanent basis with Lt. Commander Bryce's transfer. (DIS: "The Examples")

Lt. Christopher was played by Orville Cummings. While it was not explicitly stated whether Christopher is a previously unseen member of Discovery's crew who travelled from the 23rd century, or if he is native to the 32nd, the former can be assumed because in DIS: "Species Ten-C" he mentions having attended Starfleet Academy, which was reopened only in 3190 125 years after it was closed.
