Carl Torres was the brother of John Torres. He was married and had three children, an eldest daughter, Elizabeth and two sons, Dean and Michael.
One time in the 2350s, he went camping with his kids, his brother John, and his niece B'Elanna. After setting up, he and John went off to fish in one direction, while the kids went in the other. His kids knew his reputation, and predicted that he wouldn't actually catch any fish. Later, around the camp fire, he told one of his "famous fish stories".
Later that night at the camp, after they believed everyone to be sleeping, his brother John confessed to him that he was finding his family life difficult. Carl reminded him that their mother loved John's wife, Miral, and said that B'Elanna was a great kid. (VOY: "Lineage")
