Bix was a Trill symbiont.
In the late 24th century, Bix was joined to Jinaal, so as to ensure that Jinaal's custodianship over a piece of a map, containing the secret location of immensely powerful Progenitor technology, would endure into the future. Bix's subsequent hosts all devoted themselves to this task.
Some eight hundred years later in 3191, Bix was nearing the end of its lifespan, having survived longer than most symbionts. Its final host, Kalzara, saw to Jinaal's map piece being given to the crew of the USS Discovery, before passing away. Afterwards, Bix swam away into the pools of the Caves of Mak'ala. (DIS: "Jinaal")
