40 Eridani B, sometimes shortened to Eridani B, was one of three stars in the Vulcan system. It formed a binary pair with 40 Eridani C, and had no planets.
In 2259, Lieutenant Sam Kirk speculated that an anomalous vortex on the Kerkhovian moon was related to elevated sunspot activity on Eridani B. The star was also depicted in a diagram of the Vulcan system displayed on the shuttle Cervantes. (SNW: "Charades")
