The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center
The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center opened for business in September 1932. On September 1, 1932, at 10:00 a.m., New York Hospital received its first patients; and on September 26, Cornell University Medical College began instructing medical students at the new complex. The impressive award-winning alabaster building towered over the Upper East Side neighborhood as a temple of modern medicine at the height of the Great Depression.
