How does おめでとう become 'to congratulate'?
I'm a Korean so I know many Chinese letters.
In Japanes あけましておめでとうございます means Happy New Year.
Litterally it's 'It's new year so congratulations.'

What is the difference between 判{わか}る and 分{わ}かる? [duplicate]
Until now, I though the only verb for "to know" was 分かる. I saw the verb 判る used for the same meaning today.
