Indian Mavens' Games of the Year 2016 discussion
Pocket Gamer
Games I liked from fellow Indian game developers are Star Chef and Blyss.
My favourite mobile games of the year, to name a few:
# Agar.io and Slither.io for making the perfect online game to play in short breaks.
# Reigns, for turning a simple Tinder-based framework into a great game.
# Color Switch and other titles developed with Buildbox. Slightly jealous, too, that some of these got featured in the AppStore again and again.

Does iPhone 7's high price seal its doom in India?

Does iPhone 7's high price seal its doom in India?
Rs 60,000 for a iPhone will definitely not help Apple in gaining its market share here. I feel even the AirPods are going to be costly.
Maybe it's time for Apple to re-think its tactics again. A strategic partnership with Reliance JIO should help them slash the price with some good offers.

With Galaxy Note 7's fire issues, Apple definitely has the leverage to pocket the premier customers in India during Diwali.

Indian Mavens discuss Blyss and the power of an AppStore feature for paid games
Pocket Gamer
It's definitely a risky deed for most Indian studios - if you fail to get the US App Store feature slot, you’re doomed. Most of us don’t have the marketing budget to back unless the game is published by a western publisher.
I believe that if your game is meant for gamers to finish it before moving on to the next title, the game is worth being a premium one just like Amir’s A Dark Room and Monument Valley.
I hope Blyss makes it to that list.

Cheers to Dropout games for such a bold move and sticking to it till the end! I can see why they had self-published the game, as most western publishers prefer F2P games backed with marketing plan and budget.
This love and support from Apple will definitely boost the indie scene here. -
Indian game development mavens thoughts on funding & mentor
Pocket Gamer
I'm with Shailesh - chasing Vishal as a mentor/investor will get you into places as a service provider (with his deep pocket and network).
However, I doubt his role as a mentor at present. I guess we need more UA experts as mentors to experiment, analyse, and explore the market.
If he’s open to enhancing indies with this kind of investment and his vision on designs, it will be great.

Most of us are still struggling to get the casual gamers out of BCP box (Bollywood, Cricket and Poker).
I can see that Nazara is on the right path - they brought in Pascal Clarysse to nurture the gamers here. I'd be more keen on getting someone like that than Vishal as a mentor.
