Three scientists from Ilia State University feature among the world’s top scientists

News

Stanford University has published a list of the world’s top 2% of scientists, which includes five scientists from Georgia, three of which represent Ilia State University:

  •  Ozgur Kişi, Professor of Civil Engineering, ranked 7th in Environmental Engineering
  •  Rainer W. Bussmann, co-founder of the Ethnobotany Research Centre at Ilia State University, founder and publisher of the series of Caucasus Ethnobotany (Springer Publishing), ranked 518th in Medicinal & Biomolecular Chemistry.
  •  Professor Merab Svanadze, Professor of Mathematics, ranked 1631th in Mechanical Engineering & Transports. 

The database, prepared by experts, has listed over 100,000 scientists classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields, whose published research manuscripts have accelerated progress in their respective fields and influenced the productivity of other researchers as well.

The Stanford rating is based on Scopus data and uses the following citation criteria when evaluating academic performance: Hirsch h-index; coauthorship-adjusted Schreiber hm-index; citation of independently published papers and total number of citations.
