From a shapefile I try to export the contained polygons to GeoJSON. This works fine with right click on the layer > Export > Save as ... > Format: Geojson. The exported file then looks like this as MultiPolygon:

For further processing of the GeoJSON I need the format of the second output as Polygons, not MultiPolygons. Is there a way in QGIS to get directly to this?

Run Multipart to Singleparts from the processing toolbox, then export the result as GeoJSON.

  • This works perfectly and i get 'Polygon'. But i would like to have multiple 'Polygon' in one file. Is there as well a possibility?

    Ahhhh, i got it! I used the 'Iterate over this layer, ...' button. Which resulted in a single layer for each polygon. If i do not press the button, it does exactly what i needed. Thank you very much for insisting again!

Try to use Multipart To Singlepart tool

You first need to convert your shapefile from multipart to single part, in "Vector"-->"Geometry tools".
