Borderlands 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed first person role playing shooter Borderlands. It was created by Gearbox Software for Windows PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 platforms. The game is also available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One along with all of its downloadable content in Borderlands: The Handsome Collection.
The game builds upon game-play elements introduced in its predecessor. It's a first-person shooter that includes character-building elements found in role-playing games, leading Gearbox to call the game a "role-playing shooter." At the start of the game, players select one of four (or six with DLCs) new characters, each with a unique special skill and with proficiencies with certain weapons.
