À propos

Hydrogen is one of the largest economic opportunities over the next 30 years. Driven by international actions to combat climate change, it has the potential to revolutionize numerous value chains in the energy industry and across both mobility and manufacturing sectors. The growing challenges of the climate crisis are forcing investment in green hydrogen and technologies based on it, as an essential building block for climate protection. Hydrogen, as a new promising ecosystem, can help reduce CO2 emissions in many ways. Solutions must be found to the challenges of production, storage, and transport to fully exploit the potential of hydrogen. The potential financial and development growth in the South African market is endless. We at HYDROGEN-AFRICA proudly invite you to walk this green journey with us. HYDROGEN - AFRICA convenes the world’s policy and strategy leaders at the forefront of ground-breaking hydrogen projects to share the latest advancements and collaborate towards a sustainable future. Through the alignment of industry experts, renewable energy leaders, and the financial industry community, we aim to promote, support, and accelerate the deployment of green hydrogen and fuel cell technologies as well as improve access to (clean) energy and mobility in Africa. The time to meet and do business with African, and International Hydrogen Pioneers is now! We’ve created a platform whereby companies, policymakers, project owners, and Government, can exchange views and ideas on economic, technical, and other relevant social topics. The upcoming Hydrogen-Africa Conference and Expo’s in 2023, is a place to make bold announcements and reaffirm alliances that will enable a shift from a fossil fuel-dependent economy towards a secure and sustainable clean hydrogen economy. HYDROGEN BANK: PRIORITY TO EU PRODUCERS, SAY 12 HYDROGEN ASSOCIATIONS 12 European hydrogen associations, including France Hydrogène, are calling on Ursula von der Leyen to restrict the next European Hydrogen Bank auction, which is worth €1.2 billion, to EU producers. The news was made public only today, but the letter in question dates from 5 July. While the signing parties* (France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal and several Eastern European countries) welcome the European Commission’s renewed ambition to develop hydrogen through electrolysis, with confirmation of a 2nd round of auctions for the European Hydrogen Bank, they are calling for a European priority. The letter reiterates the importance of aligning the objectives of the Green Deal, and in particular the Net Zero Industry Act, by giving priority to subsidising projects involving electrolysers manufactured in the European Union. Building sustainable competitiveness in Europe The letter states that “it is more than ever crucial to demonstrate that decarbonization and reindustrialisation can go hand-in-hand to bring high social value within the EU. gigafactories must find initial markets for achieving economies of scale and building a sustainable competitiveness in the fierce global competition”. The associations are calling for a pre-qualification criterion of resilience, as suggested by Hydrogen Europe, but supplemented by criteria on social aspects, cybersecurity, as well as safety and performance standards. “It is more crucial than ever to demonstrate that decarbonisation and reindustrialisation can go hand in hand to create great social value within the EU,” stresses France Hydrogène in a LinkedIn post . Thank you Alan Zhao ✨✨✨

Trezeguet Kal'air (Hydrogen-Africa), Thanks for having pulled together a 1-day successful thought provoking #hydrogen economy discussions with policy makers, influencers, and thought leaders Rosalinde van der Vlies (European Commission), Raphaël Schoentgen (Hydrogen Advisors), Jean-Baptiste De Cuyper (DEME Group), Nouraddine GRIBI (Eco-Stream Nederland BV), Stefan Van Laer (Belgian Hydrogen Council), Yann Tanvez (IFC - International Finance Corporation) and many others. It's fruitful to have open discussions on opportunities and challenges, especially on different #LCOH levels in different parts of the world, the affordability and feasibility of government incentives supporting the scaling of #greenhydrogen production. Those stimulating discussions would eventually influence innovation solutions from technology solution providers like Accelera by Cummins and many others.

For those who like to learn more about ➡️ National Hydrogen Strategies and Roadmap Tracker, The Center on Global Energy Policy have just published a comparative analysis of the production methods envisaged in the various strategies. *All countries envisage to produce electrolytic #hydrogen from renewable electricity. Sometimes, the exact source of that renewable electricity is not mentioned, but mostly this is #solar and #wind (and even more often - solar + wind). But strategies are not only about electrolytic #hydrogen from wind and solar (if you have been in Europe over the past 4 years, you may think so sometimes). *Among the other sources of renewable electricity, hydro is quite often mentioned - notably in North America, Latin America; and #geothermal is as well in a handful of countries *There is little said about technologies involving bioenergy, but many strategies do consider various ways to produce hydrogen from #biomass * #Nuclear electricity - anyone? Quite a few countries across the world do mention nuclear. Including France, without any surprise. * Around half of the countries are mentioning natural gas as a source for hydrogen, using either SMR, ATR or occasionally pyrolysis * Finally a few mentions of #natural hydrogen and by-product hydrogen Anne-Sophie Corbeau

Last 30 May 2024, I had the most wonderful opportunity to attend the 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧-𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚-𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧 - 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝗽𝐞 which for 2024 took place in 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝘂𝗺. With the aim of gathering industry experts, policymakers (European Commission) and researchers, as to foster knowledge exchange, promote collaboration and innovation application to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen technologies across Africa, it had also the clear aim to introduce the discussion of the need to unlock a new era of sustainable development by the training and formation of future leading generations. As an indirect tax advisor, it was a real honor to have been selected to be interviewed within the context of the 2024 Investment Forum in Europe of the Hydrogen-Africa to share my experience as a tax advisor, but also as a professional woman and author working within the supply chain, infrastructure, regulation, tax and energy sectors. I am sincerely thankful for this opportunity and for the referral Mr. Trezeguet Kal'air and feeling truly enthusiastic for upcoming initiatives to empower people, local communities and contribute for a new status of clean energy for our planet. #supplychain #hydrogen #sustainability #africa #energytransition
