When I said it doesn’t fit, I mean that the pencil fits in depth but the drawer won’t close. Am I wrong to expect the drawer to fit the pencil AND close? '

I believe I am misunderstanding.

The pencil sticks out from the iPad, so the drawer can't possibly close with the pencil on.

Also to address the issue some of us have opening the case because the cover is exact, I didn't realize pulling the pencil cover lid gives easy access to opening the case. D'oh.
