I like to lead off with letting people know I'm trans. This isn't because I think anything of it but I'd rather not have someone accuse me of lying by omission. It's right here, spelled out in black and white: I'm trans. She/Her pronouns if you 'd be so kind <3 With that out of the way; I'm a big fan of word origins. I love knowing the history and roots of the language we use and what path it took into our lexicon. I am an anglophone but I also speak (poor) Spanish using mostly Mexican derived idioms. I also dearly love misquoting and using (read "abusing") malaphors or metaphors miss-mix-matched with idioms and silly paraphrases. I've been known to make up my own on the fly. This actually comes directly from my Latinx roots as it was common during the Mexican Cinema Golden Age for comedians of the era to participate in 'cantinfleando' or the practice of misquoting, misattributing or outright butchering known facts from the social consciousness of common knowledge. This was done specifically for comedic effect and not to anger of antagonize any member of the audience. It's playful and harmless lexical jousting. It's something of a lost arte in the age of 'punch-down' comedy. I work in Information Technology and Security and am a studied (tho not practicing) CNC and Manual Machinist.
