San Marino is a city in the northwestern San Gabriel Valley of California. The city was founded by Henry E. Huntington (who built a streetcar network in San Marino and other cities in Southern California, and endowed the Huntington Library), Don Benito Wilson, and George Patton, Sr. (father of the general). It is one of Southern California's more affluent communities.

Located on the 207-acre estate of the late railroad tycoon Henry Huntington, the Library offers 9 million works from British and American history including an original Gutenberg Bible and Ellesmere's manuscript of Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales." Three art galleries showcase 18th- and 19th-century British and French masterpieces including the famed "Pinkie" and "The Blue Boy" paintings. Sixteen lush gardens covering 150 acres round out the experience. Weekdays: $25 adults, $21 seniors/students, $13 youth 4-11, under 4 free, groups (15 or more) $19 per person; Weekends: $29 adults, $24 seniors/students, $13 youth 4-11, under 4 free, groups (15 or more) $23 per person. Free on first Th of the month with advanced tickets.
