Hey, I noticed you removed an image here on the grounds that it wasn't PD. However, my understanding is that it was published in 1907. Account to copyright law in the United States, that's PD (95 years or older). It appears to have the wrong PD tag on the Commons, but maybe I'm missing something. Best, ~ Pbritti (talk) 04:12, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Kusma pointed out here that Pogany died in 1955, making it just barely out of PD in the UK - it's PD in the US, but not where it was originally published, as far as i know. ... sawyer * he/they * talk 04:20, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not to assume where you're from, but on the off chance that the image was uploaded from within the US, it would appear that the Berne agreement does not require the enforcement of UK copyright law in this case; see here. Maybe I'm missing something, but better safe than sorry! Good luck with the GA! ~ Pbritti (talk) 04:43, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
indeed i'm in the US (for the next ~month anyways) but i'm now more confused. if it's not too much trouble, could you explain this on the GAN review page? Kusma would surely be more competent in this area than i am.
in any case regarding commons, i don't think this is CSD-material over there, and given their backlog it'd probably be actually PD before a deletion discussion would even be closed. ... sawyer * he/they * talk 05:09, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For positive reasons, I'm going to be drawing down my Wikipedia presence for the next few weeks and I already accepted a GAN when I shouldn't have. I'd rather not step on Kusma's toes any more than I already have. Also, I agree: we can just let that image sit until it does become obviously PD. Best wishes for you if you're traveling abroad—I'm off to Edinburgh early next month! ~ Pbritti (talk) 05:14, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
no worries; i'll just link him this section. have fun in edinburgh! & i'm actually moving to Ireland to start university in august O_O ... sawyer * he/they * talk 05:17, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
