How you can help

Hey there, I see you made the article AAC-1937! I noticed that no one had welcomed you, (in your year of being here) so I wanted to send you a little welcome note.

I would also like to talk to you about the article you made. I took a notice to it when I was going through newly created articles, and it struck me as a little odd. I clicked on the Catalan link on the sidebar, and saw what seemed to be the same article, just in Catalan, possibly translated using something like google translate. I think it's great translating things onto the English Wikipedia when we lack an original article for it! I wanted to bring up a few issues with you, though. If it was machine translated, you can consider this a gentle caution to avoid pure machine translations in the future, you can read a little more about that here: WP:TRANSLATION. But many users feel that machine translations require more work to clean up than it would to write the article from scratch (for an example of this, you can see the backlog at WP:PNT).

You will also notice that I edited the article with an edit summary of "Content added in a previous edit is translated from the existing Catalan Wikipedia article at ca:AAC-1937; see its history for attribution." When translating between Wikipedia versions you should have some sort of note explaining where the information came from, because of our Copyleft/Share Alike license. If you think copyright is interesting, you can read more about the Wikipedia Policy here: WP:Copyrights and WP:Copying within Wikipedia.

We appreciate your contributions, though, so please don't let this frighten you off, and please stick around so we can do more great work together. If you would like to talk more about this, you can reach me at my talk page, or leave a message here, being sure to ping me with {{ping|Menaechmi}}. Thanks, menaechmi (talk) 14:28, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,@Menaechmi: I'm more or less new at wikipedia, and I don't know a lot of things(for example if its here where I have to say this).

In the article of the AAC-1937 I went to the catalan wikipedia and translate by myself the article, with a little help of the google translate, using the article in catalan of base, and translating it (also sorry if I make any kind of mistake with the orthography).

I thank you for all your help with that article, and I'm thinking of making other articles in the English Wikipedia.

Thanks for all, Eloi Montes (talk) 15:19, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, no problems. I could tell it wasn't a pure machine-translation a few things are just slightly off, with work and time you can make it better :). Its still a good article. Translations can just be very hard. If you're interested, you might want to check out the Teahouse or any of the WP:Mentorship programs.
I also noticed that you put your age on your profile, and so I am leaving a link here to our Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors. While I am sure that you can handle yourself and know how to stay safe, I just would feel much more comfortable knowing that someone has shown it to you, because it gives clear directions to help you edit. menaechmi (talk) 16:22, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Pistol F. Ascaso. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in NP-18, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Jessicapierce (talk) 02:34, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I gather that you are not contributing in your native language, and I understand that that may be difficult. However, if you want to add to the English-language Wikipedia, you need to be using a spellcheck at the very least. Thank you, Jessicapierce (talk) 02:34, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

War thunder userbox deleted.

[edit]

Hello,

I see you have been using a userbox created by me that states that you play War Thunder.

This userbox used the War Thunder logo, however this file has been deleted recently on commons. There is unfortunately no file on commons to replace this logo so I have deleted the userbox as well.

Since the userbox has been deleted this will soon if not already cause that an error will be displayed where you are using the War Thunder userbox. You may wish to remove it from the page were you have been displaying it. I hope to have informed you well with this message.
