Caleb Mason is an author living in Maine who has written The Isles of Shoals Remembered (Tuttle, 1992) Goodreads and novels under the pen name Don Trowden including Normal Family (2012) Publerati No One Ran to the Altar (2016) Book Review, All the Lies We Live (2018), and Young Again (2022), the latter co-authored with Valerie McKee.

Mason began his career as a bookseller and then went on to work at Little, Brown and Company. Following this, he helped launch the start-up book publisher Salem House, which was eventually merged into the newly formed HarperCollins in 1989. Subsequently he worked in the early days of digital photography and then digital mapping and GPS.

Mason founded the literary fiction small press Publerati in 2011, which focuses on literary fiction. Authors edited and published by Mason include Lakshmi Raj Sharma, Wayne KarlinJoyce Kornblatt, and Wendy Shaia. Mason stated in a Publishers Weekly article his desire to keep the press small and independent. He has also described what is unique about his publishing philosophy in an interview with the Velocity of Content

Mason comes from a notable family of musicians and writers and is a direct descendant of Lowell Mason. His grandfather was the explorer and writer Gregory Mason whose discoveries of new Mayan ruins in the 1920s were front page news in The New York Times. Discovered films of his 1927 expedition were used as the basis for the documentary Silver Cities of the Yucatan, which won an Explorers Club award.
