White flag

[edit]

How is the white flag supposed to illustrate populism? The article White flag does not seem to list any such use. I think that this sidebar should be without an image, unless some other one (and not specific to any particular populist leader) can be proposed. People section

[edit]

What exactly grants an inclusion of a name listed under the "people" section of the template? I see recently, that Donald Trump has been added, which definitely sparked my concern. Has Donald Trump contributed to populist literature? Is he worthy of being listed just because some commentators have claimed he is a populist? What makes him, and for that matter, any of the others listed, qualified to be listed as notable "populists"? I believe that list needs some serious clarification as to who should be included. Perhaps we should limit it to heads of state. Cambalachero (talk) 15:15, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That might be a good idea. Andrew. Z. Colvin • Talk 01:44, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Has wikipedia given up on trying to be serious?

[edit]

This "Populism" Sidebar is an absolute mess. The names that are included are bizarre and represent no unified movement or philosophical tendency (Hitler alongside Gaius Marius?! Theodore Roosevelt alongside Julius Caesar?!). Actual populists like William Jennings Bryan are nowhere to be seen. What I suspect has happened is that "point of view" has creeped into this where people with strong opinions on fascism and nationalism (pro and con) have hijaked this template to use it as a weapon in their "information wars". Enough is enough! 2605:6000:5002:80F0:74DA:CD5F:525B:1012 (talk) 15:39, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal: Split "people" section

[edit]

Split "people" section into "right-populism" and "left-populism" and other various categories Mapmaker345 (talk) 01:49, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
