Yikes!!!

[edit]

This template is bigger than many articles! I think it ought to be seriously trimmed. It doesn't need to include a complete album discography, for example - the key, most notable albums will do. --kingboyk 18:30, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

actually, i think that it's fine the way it is with McCartney's solo work and it should have a "With The Beatles" category, sure, everyone knows that he was a member of the beatles but a section on this template would be very good. 200.83.92.102 15:11, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your right, this template has a number of major issues.

It is missing some albums, for example Chaos and creation isn’t on there, and neither is memory almost full.

Also, why list all the Beatle albums in this template, when we have a Beatles template underneath? The Beatles template underneath is fine.

Past Masters I • Past Masters II are not Beatles Studio albums. They are compilation albums.

The links to other pages are wrong. A good example here is the link to the Beatles One Compilation album. Pages also exist for Beatles Past Masters 1 & 2. All you have to do is look at the Beatles template below.

Unless there are any major complaints, i will Fix this template on Tuesday.

Ok has somebody just gone and edited it today? Fair enough, it saves me the hassle. Honans (talk) 15:46, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Снова в СССР

[edit]

If this is printed this way, Снова в СССР, or in upper case as СНОВА В СССР, then it is pronounceable, after a fashion, as English, since it appears to read "Choba".

But if you display it in mixed case italic, Снова в СССР, as the template does, then the letter В turns into God knows what, from the perspective of a typical person who does not read any Cyrillic language.

So I have changed the Cyrillic in its Roman equivalent, which is pronounceable by the average reader.

What matters in an encyclopedia is visual recognition, not whether you think people can pronounce it. Снова в СССР looks closer to what is printed on the album cover, and matches the title of the Wikipedia article. Since the title of the album is not "Snova v SSSR", I hope you will please revert your change. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 01:41, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

– These are the only musical artists/bands/groups navigational templates on Wikipedia that have "main" at the end of the titles instead of just being at the base name for the musical artist/band/group. Template:Paul McCartney and Template:Ringo Starr were moved six years ago without edit summaries. Template:The Beach Boys was moved seven years with an edit summary of "I'm going to synthesise this "main" template with the "singles discography" template to provide greater access to ease the finding of such info and to eliminate double ..." I do not understand what this edit summary means but there is a Template:The Beach Boys singles split off from this template, so if being at main has something to do with the singles, it has since been negated. These templates should be moved back to their base names following the naming conventions for navigational templates for every other navigational template. • Support if redirected, seems fine as long as the many pages these templates are on are either fixed or the template names are accurately redirected. Code names of templates aren't as important as the visible names shown on the template, although the consistency described in the nom seems a positive factor in a renaming.
