Additional sources

[edit]

Hi Indefensible, GoingBatty and other editors,

Thanks for starting this article. I want to disclose upfront (as I have on my user page) that I have an employment relationship with ImpactMatters. As such, I'm refraining from editing articles directly or indirectly related to ImpactMatters myself. Instead, I'm trying to post additional sources or suggested edits on the Talk pages of such articles for the consideration of editors who don't have a COI.

Regarding sources, I believe the current citation is a press release from ImpactMatters, but circulated by Yahoo Finance. Does this satisfy the "Secondary" criterion in the sourcing requirements for organizations (WP:ORGCRITE)? Thanks for your guidance — I'm still learning here. In any case, if you'd like to strengthen the citation or otherwise expand the stub, my sandbox includes several other sources that I believe satisfy the "Significant," "Independent," "Reliable" and "Secondary" criteria. Note that the text you see there is just sitting in my sandbox; it's never been submitted to Articles for Creation. I defer to you on what's both informational and non-promotional enough to make it into this article.

In addition, I've found a few other Wikipedia articles that mention but don't yet link to ImpactMatters (sometimes misspelled as "Impact Matters"):

Would you advise that I make those edits (inserting the links) myself, or that I suggest those edits on all the corresponding Talk pages? Appreciate your help.

Cheers, Impact1460 (talk) 18:37, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Impact1460, thanks for reaching out & welcome to Wikipedia! Have updated the 3 articles you listed above to add links to this article, and will take a look at your draft. - Indefensible (talk) 18:57, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Indefensible! Much appreciated. Just reach out if anything comes up. Impact1460 (talk) 20:46, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Having trouble with the Devex references as it does not look like I can access those, any chance those can be made available or substituted? - Indefensible (talk) 04:31, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Indefensible, sure. Here are the 2016 and 2019 articles. (Let me know if you'd like to switch to Special:EmailUser to avoid wide sharing of copyrighted material.) Impact1460 (talk) 19:38, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Indefensible, just realized the Chronicle of Philanthropy article is also gated, so linking here. Hope this works! Impact1460 (talk) 19:49, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again User:Impact1460, paywalled sources are okay per WP:OABOT, but not sure about sharing them above. Let me take another look and see what changes can be made. - Indefensible (talk) 01:12, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good, Indefensible. In case helpful, I added a version (see yellow box) in my sandbox with the paywalled sources swapped out for non-paywalled ones where appropriate. Also added some more detail & categories. Let me know what you think. Impact1460 (talk) 15:50, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that should help. Will take a look. - Indefensible (talk) 04:37, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Impact1460: Press releases distributed by other organizations doesn't help with notability - see Wikipedia:Notability_(organizations_and_companies)#Examples_of_dependent_coverage. GoingBatty (talk) 23:17, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Makes sense, thanks for clarifying, GoingBatty. I think the new sources will be an improvement. Impact1460 (talk) 19:38, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Founding

[edit]

User:Impact1460, do you have a source that the organization was founded in 2015? The NYTimes reference does not seem to state that unless I missed it. - Indefensible (talk) 04:39, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, I see that it is actually covered already by a different ref. - Indefensible (talk) 04:40, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Indefensible, ah yes, it's the 2016 Devex (ungated) that mentions the 2015 beta release of ImpactMatters' first impact audits. Here's another ref if helpful: Chronicle of Philanthropy, December 2015. Gated, BUT the ungated part says: "A Yale economics professor who helped change the way governments and nonprofits evaluate antipoverty programs today started a new venture to conduct "impact audits" of charities."
