Does anyone else think that most of this belongs on the Falkirk (district) page? miterdale 12:34, 7 Jul 2004 (UTC)

does anyone else think this sounds like it was written by the council? a popular place to visit? unless it's changed massively since i last visited, Falkirk is a town in dire straits. collapse of industry, supermarket upon shoppng centre being built right in the heart of the town centre, it's delapidated to say the least. while the falkirk wheel is a new postitive tourist attraction its not exactly in the town. tourist destination falkirk is not. —This unsigned comment was added by 88.107.154.43 (talkcontribs) .

I agree with both posts above, the article sounds strangely biased and most of the page should belong on the Falkirk (council area) page. Perhaps that page should be expanded and the Falkirk page simplified. Johnx4 16:43, 05 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Any ammendments and inclusions should be considered if they apply to the town of Falkirk and not the district in General. There is a Falkirk District page for wider regional points. Monkeyonyourback 14:50, 11 November 2011

Falkirk Battles.

[edit]

The history section here, especially the accounts of the two battles of Falkirk, was unbelievably dire. I have been as merciful as possible, limiting my editing to show that the battles took place, weeding out the dreadfully inaccurate descriptions. Fuller accounts of these battles can be read in the respective pages. Rcpaterson 04:25, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shopping

[edit]

Is there really any need for the level of detail recently added to the article, this is an encyclopedia not a directory. Fraslet 17:22, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Twin towns

[edit]

Could somebody please clarify "twin towns"? There are 3 San Rafaels listen in WP in the US, two of which are in California. There are probably half a dozen smallers ones which have not yet been mentioned. Could someone disambig that? Thanks, samwaltz 19:33, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Twin town is San Rafael in Marin County, California. Page updated as appropriate. Bigbairn (talk) 00:42, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I may be mistaken but isn't falkirk only twined with Créteil, France and Odenwald, Germany mainly because there were outpost's for the roman empire 2,000 years ago? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.132.139.87 (talk) 18:55, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

High Schools

[edit]

Aren't there more high schools than listed? For example Braes High. D4v1dR0b3r7s0n (talk) 23:42, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Braes High is in the Falkirk council area but not the actual town. The three schools listed at the moment are all within the town itself. Cal Umbra (talk) 10:59, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Given all the recent changes to ward and council structure - what are the boundaries of the 'actual town' in 2011? Leacann (talk) 18:31, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't aware of the changes you mention but I assume that the boundary ends when it reaches another named place, e.g. Denny or Larbert, or in the case of The Braes, Reddingmuirhead. This list may help if you are looking for where other schools are located within the council area. Cal Umbra (talk) 19:38, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notable People

[edit]

What should be the rules for including notable people as being from "Falkirk"? As Falkirk has one hospital are we including anyone born in Falkirk hospital or born and raised in the Falkirk town area? i.e. excluding those from Grangemouth, Polmont, Larbert etc. This would exclude Elizabeth Blackadder etc as being included in Grangemouth. Assessment comment

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Falkirk/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

There are surprising some good strengths such as geography and economy sections but the history section is letting the article down - one or two sentences do not even fit in here. The high importance should be downgraded to mid until this problem is sorted out. Kilnburn (talk) 23:19, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
