The article seems to be focusing on one specific event and not covering Derp's history at all. Just reading their Twitter will show that they've been involved in a lot more (but not maybe higher profile) incidents that are described here. I agree. In the opening paragraph Derp Trolling appears to be identified as one "Austin Thompson", who appears to be an individual hacker, not a group at all. The article never explains where the name "Austin Thompson" comes from, how it was obtained, &c. In relation to this the implicit question of whether Derp Trolling was caught, charged, convicted, or in any other way held responsible, is never answered or even addressed. Also, in the last section of the article — Aftermath and reaction — the author relates the reaction of a gaming news website editor to PhantomL0rd's to being trolled by Derp (a rather problematic blame-the-victim reaction, at that) by introducing the name/identity "Varga". The article never specifies who or what Varga is, though from context it might be assumed it is PhantomL0rd's actual name. This suggests two problems with the article. If the author is giving PhantomL0rd's real name, it may be an invasion of that person's privacy, as it appears PhantomL0rd is their preferred online identity. This is especially problematic, as the article earlier specifically states "PhantomL0rd's personal information was leaked during the attack", making it possible that the author has either intentionally or inadvertently furthered the dissemination of doxed information! Whether or not this is the case, if the information specifically referencing "Varga" is allowed to remain, the article should make it clear to the reader who/what this entity is, as it is nowhere explained in the article. The article should be rewritten, the reference to "Varga", if as problematic as it appears, should be excised, and a clearer explanation of Derp Trolling's relationship to "Austin Thompson" and the consequences of the attacks more thoroughly explained. 70.67.126.147 (talk) 18:05, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Derp (hacker group)DerpTrollingWP:NATURALDIS "an alternative name that the subject is also commonly called in English, albeit not as commonly as the preferred-but-ambiguous title", see Twitter account name and gameinformer.com story Relisted Armbrust The Homunculus 01:58, 20 January 2014 (UTC)rybec 08:01, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose on grounds of WP:COMMONNAME; sources almost unanimously refer to "the Derp hacking group" [1], "hacker group DERP" [2] (and almost most others). The reference to DerpTrolling (as used in this source), seems to have been pulled from their twitter handle and the twitter handle "derp" was likely taken when they registered (first tweet of @derp was a few months before @DerpTrolling). benmoore 16:51, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
So why not Derp hacker group or Derp hacking group? Isn't natural disambig better than parenthetical? Dicklyon (talk) 04:20, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sure that could work, and nothing stops anyone moving this page to either of those, although it's not a clean natural disambig in my eyes as the name of the group is solely "Derp". I have no strong feelings about it either way. benmoore 09:38, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - the group's name is Derp.--Launchballer 09:53, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
