Merge proposal

[edit]

Propose merging Spanish East Indies into Captaincy General of the Philippines

Short explanation: After an investigation I have made, those terms mentioned above are essentially the same thing. But the thing is that in terms of administration and government of Spanish colonies, the term of Captaincy General of the Philippines is more widely used.

Long explanation: I suggest to move this, because I found out that those things include the same territories, adding separate articles would be misleading and confusing when they literally are the same thing (their territories on maps are the same), so merge them would be a solution. In the articles about list of colonies there images that says Captaincy General of the Philippines and that included other islands in the Pacific which formed the Spanish East Indies, implying that both terms are the same but the term that I'm mentioning (Captaincy General) is the most widely used, and also in list of Spanish colonies Captaincy General is the one that is seen, and the name of the Governors are named Governor-General of the Philippines, implying the same as well.

I hope you understand what I'm requesting. Mr. Information1409 (talk) 03:27, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Founding

[edit]

This article shoul;d givee the date and the circumstances of the founding of the Captaincy General of the Philippines. I did not see thsast info or a supporting cite when I looked for it after seeing yjiia edit to a erelated article. Also, the infobox should probably show extablishment and aboloshment dates.
