Needs to be rewritten

[edit]

This article needs a serious rewrite, especially the plot summary section. It's loaded with references to "hilarious scenes" and "use of subtle conversation" that make it sound more like a story than an encyclopedia article. I've never seen the movie, so will someone who has please do this? --FlamingSilmaril 18:40, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to get rid of the "hilarious" and "subtle" pov crap, but I haven't seen the movie either. Kweeket 18:01, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

THIS movie made a star of Julie Andrews? I'm sorry, but Julie Andrews was a star long before 1979. 71.115.236.84 (talk) 04:22, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Remake

[edit]

Found a story about a remake but it was dated 2003. IMDB does still list a 10 remake as being in development by Blake Edwards but until a more without more recent article comes up it is maybe it is better not to include it in the article. -- Horkana (talk) 07:47, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Corn rows "heavily criticized"

[edit]

Neither of the sources cited criticize the use of corn rows or mention the term "cultural appropriation" at all. In fact, neither are news sources from the time of the film. They are FAQs for people interested in trying the hair style. This remark should be removed or if indeed she was "heavily criticized," whoever wrote this should find an actual source. 2600:1700:3520:1B70:25C8:44B2:49AC:C83D (talk) 22:12, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I don't remember any such criticism from the time and this interview from Variety suggests that in fact the contemporary reaction from African American women was actually positive. JezGrove (talk) 22:47, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
