Table vs. prose

edit

TheLoverofLove, not saying yours is wrong at all, but could you explain why you feel prose descriptions of the games are superior to a table? Personally, I felt the table was able to get across information such as developers more concisely than "This minigame was developed by x. This minigame was also developed by x. This minigame was developed by y." I'm open to your perspective, though, and won't revert it without at the very least hearing it.

If anyone else wishes to take a look, here's the the tabular version.- Vague | Rant 12:45, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I think the table looks better than a long list of undeveloped sections. I had started work on this section for its prose form, trying to develop each section and describe the game play (I didn't want to finish each section individually and save the page each time). I had finished writing about Cone Zone as such:
In Cone Zone, players use the Wii Remote to balance an ice cream cone as scoops of ice cream are incrementally added. As the stack of ice cream grows higher, the stack grows top-heavy and becomes more difficult to balance. The player is ultimately scored on how many scoops were added to the stack before it finally topples over. In a variation of the minigame, the player's cone is dispensed with soft serve ice cream. The player is tasked with angling the cone so that the soft serve gradually grows into a desired spiral shape, and is scored based on numerous factors, such as the ice cream height and the balance. Cone Zone was developed by ARZEST Corporation.
If we go with the table layout maybe additions such as these wouldn't be a good idea, but I don't know. What do you think? --ThomasO1989 (talk) 13:13, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I definitely prefer your description to mine--all of mine are quite bare and I just wanted to be sure the games were described at all since I'd specifically made room for it in the table and it seemed the appropriate thing (obviously, a list of names is meaningless to someone who's never played the game); I'd wholeheartedly approve of any of yours replacing mine, whether in prose or tabular format. With a table, there are of course concerns of length, so I'm not sure how it should be approached, but I definitely think the information is valid and worthy of inclusion.
Thinking out loud, perhaps a table under the development header would be preferable. I've rigged up the beginning of one at above right; this way the individual games can take as much prose space as needed while still giving a quick rundown of developers, which also seems like important info to me. - Vague | Rant 14:26, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Of course, this also means checking multiple areas of the article in order to find the relevant info on each game, which is somewhat undesirable. Still, here's an example of my earlier table with a rough idea of description length based on your first:

Not sure how I feel in either direction about the space that takes up. Any thoughts? - Vague | Rant 14:45, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
In the absence of further discussion, I'm going to reinstate the tabular game list, which I feel is an improvement over the current many-sectioned prose. It can always be changed later if deemed necessary. - Vague | Rant 06:48, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Umbilical Cord

edit

I don't think "umbilical cord" is an appropriate word for this article. Can somebody provide a different word? AmericanLeMans (talk) 21:11, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
