U-Boot = The Submarine discussion

edit

The fact that "U-boot" is a commonly used abreviation for "Submarine" in German, doesn't mean that it is the intended name for the project. In fact, as the article states, it comes from "Universal Bootloader" http://www.denx.de/wiki/U-Bootdoc/WebHome. It may be possible that it is usually called "The Submarine" by developers. I think the phrase should be rewritten to say that, the source cited OR removed. Ex Puexto (talk) 08:01, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but I'm sure that the developers are quite aware of the all connotations of the term "U-Boot" more so as "U-Boot" is in fact the common term to refer to a submarine in german. So "pun intended". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.179.162.126 (talk) 19:44, 1 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

wrong headword

edit

This Software is called "U-Boot". No German article "das" in front. It should be moved to U-Boot (Software) --Thomei08 (talk) 10:47, 25 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I thing the "das" is correct because it is the title odf the Sourceforge Project. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.94.245.116 (talk) 13:29, 11 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Das U-Boot (or just "U-Boot" for short) is Open Source Firmware for Embedded Power Architecture®, ARM, MIPS, x86 and other processors." [ See http://www.denx.de/wiki/view/DULG/UBootVersions: ] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.243.202.70 (talk) 14:54, 4 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Is it a bootloader?

edit

Maybe it is a firmware? No? Like BIOS, UEFI, Open Firmware. And bootloader is something that is loaded by it. Something that comes with OS. 77.52.154.88 (talk) 01:37, 17 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
