EU CyberNet
Information Technology & Services
A network and a practical learning platform with the goal to strengthen cybersecurity globally!
About us
The European Union External Cyber Capacity Building Network – or the EU CyberNet – launched in September 2019 for a duration of four years. Its purpose is to 1) strengthen the global delivery, coordination and coherence of the EU’s external cyber capacity building projects, and 2) reinforce the EU’s own capacity to provide technical assistance to third countries in the field of cybersecurity and countering cybercrime. The EU CyberNet is a project led by the Estonian Information System Authority in consortium with competent authorities from Finland, Germany and Luxembourg that aims to create a network of cyber experts and establish a community of stakeholders to support the EU and implement its cyber capacity building initiatives in EU‘s partner countries. The project is funded by the European Union (Directorate-General for International Development and Cooperation).

Our expert Marcel Gerardino underlines in the talk for the interview series with our experts that the most significant challenge is the lack of attention #cybersecurity had up until very recently, often taking a backseat to profitability. In the interview, he also explained his interest in cybersecurity: sense of duty to protect systems, because #technology has great value for advancing societies, but in the wrong hands, it has potential to cause a lot of harm. We shared Estonia’s 🇪🇪 and Europe’s 🇪🇺 #cybersecurity perspectives at the Annual Meeting of the Cybersecurity Alliance for Mutual Progress (CAMP) in Seoul 🇰🇷 this week, and emphasized that incident response in the AI-age needs to evolve with technology. The use of #AI in cybersecurity is a battle between machines. As attackers use AI to generate phishing attacks and predict patterns, defenders must adopt automated threat hunting and predictive analytics. Prioritizing supply chain cybersecurity is crucial. Director of EU CyberNet, Liina Areng highlighted also best practices from Riigi Infosüsteemi Amet // Estonian Information System Authority (NCSC-EE) for robust cybersecurity such as 24/7 monitoring, operational information exchange, regular threat assessments, and a national cyber reserve. From the #EU perspective, she discussed building resilience through strategy, regulations, cross-border networks and global capacity building via undertakings such as #EUCyberNet and LAC4 . 🔗 Read key take-aways of intervention: https://lnkd.in/dS_Esyqx
