Kia has debuted the refreshed 2024 version of its Seltos compact SUV, with updated styling, more horsepower for its turbocharged engine, and a new transmission. It’s expected to go on sale in the first half of 2023.
The revamped styling includes a larger “tiger nose” grille and revised front bumper, new rear lighting, vertical fog lamps integrated with the daytime running lights, available full-projection LED headlamps, and available “Star Map” lighting across the grille. There are also new wheel designs and exterior colours.
Inside, this little Kia benefits from a new 4.2-inch instrument cluster, new dash trim, and in what the automaker is calling a “segment-first,” an available panoramic screen that upgrades the cluster to a 10.25-inch and combines it with a 10.25-inch centre infotainment display.
As before, the Seltos comes in front- or all-wheel-drive, and the base engine is a 2.0L four-cylinder that makes 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, mated to an automatic continuously-variable transmission (CVT). The optional 1.6L turbocharged engine gains an extra 20 horses, taking it to 195 horsepower, along with 195 lb-ft of torque as before.
The current Seltos mates the turbo engine to a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission, which was frequently faulted for its tendency to hesitate when shifting at lower speeds. It will now be replaced with an eight-speed automatic, which Kia says will give it a “more seamless and lively performance.”
In line with other Kia models, the 2024 Seltos will also receive an X-Line trim, which adds a grille with gunmetal finish, black roof rack, gloss black door garnish, and unique 18-inch wheels.
Other new standard or available features across the lineup will include two front and two rear USB ports, power liftgate, ventilated seats, over-the-air infotainment and map updates, and a “digital key” that lets drivers use their phones for locking, unlocking, and driving.
Pricing will be announced closer to launch. In Canada, the 2023 Seltos starts at $23,695 for the LX FWD, and tops out at $33,695 for the SX Turbo.
